whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? I can't hear you form behind this HUGE pile of station-trading isk.

On a serious note to the OP : I recently -1 month ago - started trading again after a few years break and am doing exactly as you describe being jita to small hubs. The first hub went so well i expanded and expanded and .... well i'm up to 5 hubs now and if i had more playtime i would take a few more hubs.In short there is more then enough isk to be gained wich to be honest surprised me a lot because i expected otherwise when i started.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

the market system was completly revamped over the course of 2012, there seems to be no lack of merchant content when it comes to item diversity.

Intresting what CCP is doing with clothing.

If you really want todo something new and intresting, set up your own minin trade hub, Sell T3 stuff from mid weapons and T2 fittings right down to hulls and sister probes.
Start with 1 race, pick any one of the T3's

its easy to make ISK, just be creative and just do it,

I think he just wants the curve between "Freshly created alt" and "Already a billionaire" to be steeper.
Well, bad news is, trading is much harder to establish than slowboating in 0.9 system in your hulk.
The good news is that once established, there are no limits for trader profits, while mining will hit the hard cap of what.. 50m / hour for arkonor?

Check in the market under Trade Goods. There are many items there that are bought and sold by npc's. You can make some steady money hauling those goods as a new player in a cheap industrial ship. The price will change as you continue to haul the same Trade Goods, so you might need to haul in one region for a while, then switch to a different region. You won't make the best profit hauling npc Trade Goods, but it's easy work.

Another simple strategy is to haul goods between one region and another region. There is often a large difference in prices between two separate regions. Park on the border, check some prices in region #1, fly across the border, check the prices in region #2. Or park market alts in each region, and log onto the alts to check the latest prices.

you are doing it wrong.

Or, to put it another way:

it doesnt matter how many items get added competition will always happen. You need to think outside the box.

Your view of the market makes me think that you do not understand buy and sell orders.

One could only get that frustrated if he was looking for items to buy on sellorders and then selling back to buyorders. Thats not the way to do it(Unless you trade in NPC stuff and that hasn't been worth anything since 2005 or so)

I do station to station trading only. My margins are 20-50% sometimes even above 100% on certain items. Do your research better. Also trading is no way fast, I'm liquidating stocks in 2-3 months, not just a day or even a week, but its still very good ISKs if you have a few Billions invested.
I update my sell orders once per day or even once per few days, more often buy orders. I dont care bout 0.01 ISK undercutting cuz i made my spreedsheets and know exacly how much ISK is needed to build every item i trade. Also prices on Eve market goes in sinus function so if you bought your stuff in down limit there is no way you will loose ISKs in longer term, but if you bought on tops - you are fucke*.
