In other words, you are complaining about something that has never affected you in any way. You read somewhere that this upsets people, but failed to read the inevitably surrounding posts that explained that EvE is designed to be this way.

But you felt the need to create a new thread as though this issue were a problem for you. Personally. Right now.

I'm awarding you 8 troll points. Congratulations, and don't spend them all in one place.

It is definitely NOT acceptable.

You should immediately go out there and punish them.

You have learned something about the glory of the undecable NPC corp.

Go forth and apply this knowledge wisely.

Confirming that you will be safe to resume your career as a carebear once you come to wormhole space, you and your corp mates, your towers and all your possessions will not be ransomed there, not at all... In fact it is so safe that every carebear should come over and we'll all join together at the campfire singing Kumbayah.

I love the way you deftly avoided being sucked into the MADNESS of a 300 reference.

Today i'm feeling less inclined to post sarcasticly. So here is some advise for the OP if he gets in this situation....

There are many ways to deal with this, i'm not posting them all, and I am really not an expert on these things either.

1. Do NOT pay... EVER! Even if its a small amount. The small amount is a tester, to see how weak you are. The chances are the dec wont be dropped, and you will be asked for more. Plus you will forever be labeled as an 'easy mark', and you will probably start receiving these decs quite regularly.

2. (previously posted) Stop all carebear activities, no hauling mining missioning, that what the aggressor wants, easy kills that hurt you and your members. If they get no kills they will get bored.

3. Do not smack talk, post on the forums, complain, evemail or any form of contact with the aggressors. They want your 'tears', your tears will fuel the dec.

4. Pay Mercs... plenty of them in the game.

5. Enjoy it.... buy a bunch of cheap insured ships, make sure your clone is updated, and go out there and die in a glorious ball of flameing metal......

I am not complaining, just purely finding out about the mechanics and after i read up on the dev blogs, thought it would be nice to find out what players think, tbh

You are in a corp. A NPC corporation.

You claim to be "a noob" and the implied status of "still learning".

No you didn't "notice it". What you did was create an alt character with the intent to hide behind it instead of letting "them drop" and posting with the character that resides in the corp that is currently experiencing this "extortion".

Thank you.

Do not talk to them in Local

This works, although I find it extremely amusing to (very tongue in cheek) RP in local with station campers, I've been known to invite them for tea and crumpets while camped, played chess in local with them and generally done the whole "quintessentially polite englishman with the stiff upper lip" thing, it's always good for some laughs from both sides and it can be a good way to make friends. Crying in local on the other hand will just make them want to shoot you more, so that you cry some more, it's a never ending cycle.

Remember boys and girls, in space, nobody can hear you scream, but they can certainly see your tears.

i am afraid you are wrong there sir,

This is my first eve char and in the rookie channel i was advised to go see a few places, and while there i had a discussion with an angry person regarding this and that it happens to him a lot, so i wanted info and feedback from you lot about it.

Excuse me for asking and i thought this game might be fun but clearly there are too many up tight know it all people in it to even try enjoy.

Good luck with it.

When people say "EVE is harsh" this is what they mean. Extortion, scams, killing you for no reason, bounties for no reason, corp theft, preying on newbies, all are encouraged by the game and by the developers. If you don't feel that this is fair or this is the game for you, we don't mind, there are other games out there.

People do get pissed off if you try to ask CCP to change the game; they like the way it is now, and want to continue playing the game the way it is.

Don't be put off by some of our more aggressive forum posters, Eve can make people cranky and distrustful of others. The game is fun, but you have to understand that the forum is very much part of the game, and is where a lot of the meta game occurs.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I play a lot of MMO's so i understand the mechanics of it and that forums is a huge role,
Partly my reason for asking questions, my first few days here in eve and on the forums seems to be a bunch of non-helpful trolling people with the odd decent bit of info.

Forums are the community of the game and what i have seen so far, i am not impressed.

if you are a person who likes to slander people in the forums you push a bit of the community away from an important part of the the game. If you see yourself as one of those grow up!

With that in mind, your best bet would be to avoid general discussion, CAOD, and crime & punishment.

And most importantly, get a red jacket.

Admittedly GD can be a bit of a cesspit, if you want to find genuinely helpful players, who won't troll threads and will go out of their way to help newbies, or pretty much anyone else, understand anything about the game and its mechanics, New Citizens Q & A is the place to be. Those same players will quite happily troll you in any other part of the forums though, me included P

Outside of that subforum, I'm afraid that what you see is what you get. The mods here can and do regularly roflstomp all over threads that get out of order (sometimes a little too enthusiastically), but like the game Devs they're pretty much handsoff if you play by what few rules we have.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I tend to not agree with you, rather read the crap that gets posted and have no comment and let the trolls have the only point of view?

How will the devs know what we want when we are all silenced and pushed off the platform,
yes i can live ingame and be a pleb and forget there is an outside structure that is ever changing the game i am in.

Why cant the COMMUNITY of EVE work together than against?

Dont get me wrong, Friends in RL that play games together have a better community bond than for example, me.

I think you got the wrong idea,

Guilds/Corps/etc will help other Guilds/Corps/etc members but when a new player comes into the game not knowing anyone and wants to ask questions on the media provided on certain experiences he/she has encountered and gets slammed, different story.

All you get is trolling and slander.
