Command Ships

I was looking at the proposed change to skills required for certain ships, and assuming that everyone here has half a brain and has BC to 5 already, it will be a lot easier now to get into command ships if you train now than it will be easier to fly command ships after the skill changes go through.

I don't believe anyone has made a topic about this yet, and if they have feel free to let this die off quickly and troll me as much as possible.

By having BC 5 and training up Warfare Link Specialist to 4, you can plug in the command ship skill and begin training it even though you may not be able to fly them yet. After the changes to skills happen you won't need HAC or logistics skills anymore to fly a command ship and theoretically should be able to fly every command ship, even though you might not have been able to before the changes.

Of course none of the changes are final, but this may be something people want to look into training along with BC 5 and Dessy 5, so even though you cant use every link yet, you can fly the ships. You would then be able to train for whatever specific links you may want, but wont have to train all of the leadership skills to be able to fly the ships.

I would say its worth it just so you can use the ship with just shield links if you only fly shield fleets or whatever flavor you prefer, without having to put time into the bonuses that you don't need in a shield fleet.

Of course, as a command ship pilot, you should get as much bonuses as you can eventually, but some may be a much lower priority.

TL DR: Train Command Ships to level 1.

The OP is correct. If you already have BC 5 and all racial cruiser skills at 3 then getting the command ships skill injected before the changes is a great way to bypass a large portion of the training requirements for 8 soon to be rebalanced (buffed?) T2 hulls.

For what it is worth...

I didn't think I'd be training those new prerequisites, as I have two dedicated fleet booster alts, but I found myself in the position of once again being in a fleet without anyone trained for boosting. Oh what the heck, I injected them and started training them all.

The prerequisites are certainly worthwhile skills to consider training.

But not all 4 of the skills at the same time, and only a couple are worth taking to V.

I would say it cant hurt to have them at V but you dont need them there to use a command ship well. It isnt going to hurt you if you dont train for it now. i guess to me its just a trade off of being able to use the ship while you get better in it vs having all of those boosts but having to wait longer to use the ship.

1. They are passive skills.

2. They are rank 2.

Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Labs Factory. Hybrid charges, Projectile ammo, Missiles, Drones, Ships, Need'em? We have'em, at affordable prices. Pop in at our Ammo Shop in sunny Alentene.

There are many boosting skills more beneficial to an armor fleet than siege warfare V or electronic warfare V. For example, the boosting specialist skills of choice.

Everything's a tradeoff. Just because its there, and just because its got rank 2 in the skill window doesn't mean you should be forced to train it.

One of my characters is 8d from using all T2 links. Warfare Link Spec also at level 5.

Do I regret training those? No, I don't.

Are the command ship skill changes happening at the same date as the BC skill change? (ie, next week)

All ship skill changes are in the summer expansion. None are next week
