In other news, the video game "EVE Online" which had "pornography-like elements" was banned from the Iceland internet. Now, no one ever will be able to connect to the "EVE Online" servers.

Except, you know, the servers are in London. If it's banned in iceland, they'll probably just up and move elsewhere, taking 90% of iceland's economy with them.
Also, I'm shocked by this, considering iceland has a goddamn PENIS MUSEUM.

It still amazes me that in this day and age of information and technology anyone in their right mind can even THINK that bans work.

Where I live, handguns are virtually banned. Can't carry one. Can't own one without a permit. Permit is freakishly expensive and bloody hard to get. Can't store one in your own home, unless it is locked in a box, with a trigger guard, and ammo is locked in a separate box, at least X meters away from the box containing the gun (read: useless). Etc., etc. And yet, we have daily crimes committed with those same prohibited handguns. Isn't that odd?

Simplest argument can be made - why not simply ban killing people? That would cover every potential weapon, instead of limiting weapons themselves. Oh, we already did that? And it didn't work? Well, gee whiz...I can't imagine why!

Same situation here. For one, there's ways around those filters. Secondly, even if filters are made 100% foolproof (which will essentially require all cables leading into Iceland to be physically cut and the whole country stuffed into a Faraday cage to block out any incoming signals), all it'll mean is smuggling will skyrocket, just like it did with booze during prohibition in the US. And of course let's not forget that the ban will also bring a strong black market homemade **** trade, with extra violence, crime, coercion and all the other goodies! Oh, yes. How wonderful will that be?

Sigh... Seriously, when will people learn?

It's the freedom to have anything censored before it reaches your eyes, because it may hurt your eyes. Or worse, your morals.

Freedom, protecting you from your own bad decisions.

Oh please, at the very least we all have the right to free dominatrix porn! Why, the word "freedom" is a derivative of "Free Dominatrix" for crying out loud!

The ban is stupid but there are some important considerations on pron addiction in general.

You took our Pleasure Hubs, and now they are taking your pron.

Bring back Pleasure Hub stations and this will go away. All will become right with the universe again.

I dont know where you live, but gun ownership was made much more difficult in the UK in recent history, and gun crime is actually going down. 'criminals' are resorting to using flare guns because they simply cant find a weapon on the black market, etc.

So yes, banning / heavily restricting gun ownership and putting buy-back programmes in place does eventually lead to a lowering of gun crime
