Dust won't be a serious expansion

It isn't until the outcome of Dust 514 determines the outcome of a major battle that it will be a serious aspect of eve. Until then, it's just a little bit of an extra expense.

It's interesting, but it isn't a core aspect until the expansion determines a major change.

Wrong; I've had one for ages. I'm commenting from the Eve side. Also, how did that even come into play? How would you find that in my post?

Because people hulk jump to whatever conclusions suits their mindsets.
Anyways, I disagree if they start making it profitable and viable to have large scale battles over valuable planets. There's a lot they could do with it, I just think it'd be better if they made it easy for EVE players to play both games to have them more directly involved with the Dustbunnies.

From an industrialist perpective, DUST 514 won't be a serious part of the EVE universe until capsuleers get to manufacture the stuff that dust bunnies use. In the meantime it's just a curio, a gimgaw, hanging off the side of the EVE Universe like a hernia.

That's not to say that DUST isn't interesting to play. My blistered thumbs and worn-smooth PS3 controller testify to the interest that DUST has for me (despite my atrocious 1:200 K:D ratio).

what do you mean "expansion"? expansion to the eve universe? it already is, in fact given the way eve is even if dust were to be scrapped and never launched it would still make an impact in the game.

now if you mean "expansion" as something that has a tangible effect on the politics/strategy of eve, or at least faction warfare, i does have an effect. it is not a determining factor on anything, but then again, nothing is supposed to have that much of an effect.

honestly, if there's one thing in eve that can have a determining factor on the way things happen, it has to be a horde of drunken bitter vets flying stealth bombers. those bastards will kill their own for fun.

I'm confused. OP is saying that a seperate game, that has it's own market (even if not fully functional, yet), its own ships, missions, style of combat, and played on another platform, is not an "Eve Expansion?"

What next, OP tells us that Mexico is not part of 'Murica?

This thread is all kinds of stupid. Dust was never said to be an expansion. It is its own game, that will have tie-ins to eve, to effect eachother.

The Dust bunnies shitting up local in one of the systems I live in without any way to ignore them sure is a major change for me, and not a good one at that.

To me is DUST514 not more than an atmospheric feature, but it is the best one I have seen in any game: EVE's planets have real life on them.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

And then you watch in delight as they burn under your magnifying glass, only an internet spaceship has taken it's place.

Played Planetside 2 for ~2 months like there is no tomorrow. Suddenly I've got Defiance beta/alpha invitation (MMO third person shooter with RPG elements - PvP +PvE). Since when I didn't play a single minute of Planetside: game without PvE is too dull to be interesting even with great graphic and dynamic PvP gameplay. Even with PC version Dust will be niche game unless there will be PvE / exploration expansion (and CCP will make sure we have like +5 years to wait for it)

And for EVE it will be even less noticeable than PI. Except for PI didn't took almost all development resources for few years.

Planetside 2 was a dissapointing Eve expansion, according to OP.
