CCP should put a bikini on the main EVE Online web page and on the logon screen. Would probably double subscriptions.

EDIT: Just a bikini. Floating in space, among the nebulae. Color-contrasted against the background, for the vision-impaired.

Not quite. Cleo magazine here in Australia regularly fields a letter to the editor along the lines of, "why do we never have men on the cover of our womens magazine?" The answer is (unsurprisingly enough) that when they have men on the cover (e.g.: Brad Pitt), readership for that issue falls by 50%. The explanation given is that women want to read magazines featuring attractive women (and that a not-insignificant percentage of the readership are men).

Beautiful women in your ad sells to men because men want to buy beautiful women. Beautiful women in your ad sells to women because women want to buy beauty. Both realise that what they want is impossible, so they buy your product which is associated with what they actually want. This is of course a generalisation, but it works. Some people will only buy products after reviewing their needs and choosing a product that suits their needs, advertising be damned. Those aren't the people you target with sex-based advertising, but the people who are manipulated by sex-based advertising are so populous that associating your product with melons really is the low hanging fruit of the advertising world.

Is it really a surprise to anyone that sex sells? The use of the bikini model is just to get attention(which this thread provided), now it will depend on how he can sell himself once he gets peoples attention.
