Train or Buy a mining alt?

Ive been considering getting a mining alt to make some isk since the corp my main is in is in constant war and cant grind out the isk (dont get me wrong, we like the pew pew).

Ive been checking the character threads and seen mining alts go for 1b+ isk depending on what you want

it would be some time before i get 1b+ isk and find a character on sale that suits my preference in skills(no extra gunnary or missiles or navigation skills, just straight up mining)

So, coming down to my big question:

Would it be "Cheaper" in isk to just train up a mining alt while feeding it plexs till it can mine in a hulk?

or long run should i just get the 1b+ isk

I guess i should ask ahead of time what training plan can be suggested to reach my goal

thanks everyone

I can't answer the cheaper or not question, but make sure you consider opportunity cost (the isk you could've been making while you were training the character up) rather than a straight isk to isk cost comparison.

Also, presumably you aren't going to keep this alt in the same corp, or it would be vulnerable to the same war decs. If the alt isn't in the corp, you could do anything to earn isk. Missioning, station trading, industry. A mission runner could train a different race of ships and could be ultimately be flown as either logistic, salvaging or damage dealing (managing two actively may be tough unless one was a passive droneboat). No need to pick mining unless you really want mining.

i know this is kind of a "mmmm" question as time is iskies and wasted potential

my mining alt will be in a noob corp just mining away, why i chose mining instead of mission running well, i just wanna go with something old and simple (also i suck at trades).

basically i guess im asking if, its possible to train a mining alt into a hulk with t2 strippers (or a mack with t2 ice harvsy) in the cost of 2 plexs and a few +3 implants, (lets say 900m total)

vs buying an alt already done with skills i probably dont want for 1b+

does wording it like that help?

Thanks

I know you can get IN a hulk in pretty short order, and I've seen discussions about people trying to train a hulk pilot in their 15 day trial + month. You won't have a perfectly skilled hulk pilot in that time. You could pretty easily go to EveMon, add required skills for Hulk and T2 strips and be close. Add in some fitting/cap skills to low levels, some specific ore processing skills to fit the specific ore crystals, limited drone and tank skills for defense and you should be pretty much set.

within 15 day trail + month huh? well, even if its low skilled, thats still something.

what would make your post perfect is if u knew an evemon plan already, but i wont bug ya for it :) i guess ill hit up evemon

unless someone out there likes to share a skill plan they know works well

thanks!
