Who flies around in Rattlesnakes?

First I'll try to ask my own question, but I wanted to know if people are flying them for anything other then this, as I can't seem to see where else they get used, probably as cost of losing it them being a big factor.

* Safely running L4's missions, not worrying about triggers.
* Special rooms like the last one in Angel Extravaganza, as they can mount a large, >1K NPC tank rather easy..
* Passive taking L5 missions because of the neut towers
... Is that it?

I have checked Battleclinic and fits are all over the place, mostly to run L4's, in which honestly, NPC's can't really kill this thing even if you're blindfolded, if you mission specific, as it seems trivial to fit 600+ tank.

As far as I can tell the BPC's sell from Gurista LP stores and don't drop that often from spawns ... just seems like a rather weird ship all round, also, since the drone changes, apparently a lot of people have stopped using them.

Is anyone still flying these much, other then possibly missions? Maybe some unusual fits?

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

You can do a Battlesnake which is drones + either torps or heavy neuts in the highs and 2 X-Large ancillary shield boosters

I've seen them used a lot for nullsec plexes and anoms due to massive
tank and good dps with sentries.

Haven't flown 1 in ages, but with the new torps and drone damage mods who knows it might be good for something.

p.s.
BTW AE extra room is better in a machariel, kill everything fast before it can reach you mwahahaha

HAMgu with javelins. Kill painting frigs, kill webbing frigs, kill the painting BS and then the sentries. My small booster can withstand the incomming damage with an invul and a exp hardener meanwhile. It took me a while and a few warpouts to figure the best target priority, but after the first time, I had no problem with them and I have never warped out again.

I used one last year when in the CFC and they burned through the north. The FC bought it and used it instead of the ship they normally bring. He didn't expect to live through the fight, but he did, so he raffled it off afterwards when we were bored and I won. I kept his fit on it and took it to most Alpha Fleets. It had nearly 300k ehp iirc. It was a horrible Alpha fleet ship, but I always enjoyed that first "Is someone seriously bringing a rattlesnake?" on comms.

EDIT: I named it "Rafflesnake"

Dont forget micro jump drive + sentry drones + cruise missiles, should work quite well in pve and avoids drone aggro.

I did all the training for the new ship changes, and I keep reading that maybe we end up getting a net SP refund? NOt 100% sure, but if we do get raw SP, I was thinking of putting those towards flying turret ships, so aiming that way might not be a bad idea.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

I might actually ask one of the players. If I get a reply I'll pass it on.

I still use one, T2 sentries, 3 x DDA, 2 x omni's, 2 x Drone links and an active tank, gives you over 700 dps on wardens. Put a shield RR on the high so you can rep the sentry, that way you still putting out dps. Only switch to light drones when frigs make it through and keep them close.

They don't actually do as well as you might hope they do for most of that. I couldn't speak to lvl 5s, but they do need to pay attention to triggers in lvl 4s, and use good target discipline in special rooms. They can't just sit and tank whole missions and not break a sweat. They tank well for sure, but they are FAR from invulnerable.

They are sweet mission runners and have a big enough tank to run any mission you throw at them, but particularly since the vast majority of damage is drone based they can be pretty slow at getting dps off the field, particularly for anything that can apply heavy damage out past Garde range. It means that if you bite off more than you can chew you can't just immediately bulldoze the dps down to a safe level. You can fit such that you are better able to apply dps with onmi tracking links, but that reduces your tank significantly.

It's a great mission runner, for sure. I use mine for anything involving Sansha where my paladin gets tracking disrupted. Just don't go in thinking you can just randomly shoot at crap and everything will be fine.

Rattlesnake for me is one of the best looking ships in the game, that is a good reason to fly one, but also is great for missions.

Actually I usually end up shooting the crap I should not be shooting and my rattle gets me out of trouble all the time.

I happen to know a bit about the rattle used in that pvp video. Below is a sample:

I assumed that video was before new drone dmg mods etc were released thus didn't use them. Above fit is gimped a little (lol)by sticking to purely T2. 2 of these feeding each other its cap stable, local shield recovery of 700/s each snake. With a few tackle and support help the duo is quiet fun. resist 61-69-76-86

If you are willing to throw down the money, the numbers get exponentially fun. Below is a ridiculous fit (well, to some. Some of us consider 5-6b pocket change Big smile)

this one mainly aimed for tank and still rely on tackles. resists 80-81-86-88. duo feeding off each other its cap stable and.. local shield regen of 1500+ hp/s. in order to break this tank you need about 7500dps minimum. It can also handle a neuter or two as itself also neuts and can free up quiet a bit of cap regen by turning off neut/1 energy transfer on the ship being targeted.

there's also a nano tackle fit which is hella fun when you use it to duo or small gang roam. but...I'll keep that off of table for now .:p
