Angel ratting

Hey there, I've recently relocated to angel 0.0 space from Sansa 0.0. I'm rapidly training a rattler as a stepping stone to a carrier, and I'll soon be starting atoms again against angels.

I've heard mixed reports on some angel rats doing em/therm damage - does this occur in atoms or only in plexs? Which angel rats will be dealing the em damage?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes, there's a bunch of EM and Thermal in angel anoms. It's (mostly?) the Cherubims and Seraphims, don't let them get close to you if you can help it.

Are you sure? I've noticed they changed EM torps with EXP ones for Cherubims, Seraphims, Nephilims and Saints (Nova cruise missiles and so on). Please check this out.
Some turrets still do THM damage (Angel Mineral Acquisition Outpost, as an example), that's correct.

Yes, seraphim does EM damage from its guns and Cherubims do therm. These BS account for 50-80% of the BS spawned in anoms so you need to tank for em/therm damage

True. I just havent noticed that because of high omniresists and i thought they do em/thm with their missiles.

Yes they do all around damage. This means exp is primary kin secondary and em/term is minory. Most of the explosive damage comes from angel missiles/cruises/torps. I know atleast few BS's shooting EM/Therm with their turrets cherubbim and seraphim for example. But em/therm resistance is really important. For example i couldnt tank angel hubs with maelstrom before i added EM resistance mod on it..

Another tip.. Instead of rattle learn mach or vargur. They are both better than rattle/carrier in anoms (high dps, fast aling time, no isotopes needed alltho u will need t1 ammo, fits in ship maintance array, no drone flight time etc etc etc.. Besides AC mach and vargur got better range than bouncers (can hit close targets and shoots/hits further).

I do vargur and senry domi myself.. Thats 1750dps on field boom.. Even if u managed to get that much out of carrier. Mach or vargur would still be faster to complete sites..

I used to run them in a sentry carrier and an arty\gank fit maelstrom. Things just die.. was insanely quick. Warp in at 70km and very little reaches you.

Well sure it works too.. Ive tried some different setups in angel anoms like ratting fit carrier and sentry rail domi, tengu and domi, vargur and domi, solo mach, solo vargur, solo tengu, solo maelstrom..

Best isk from those for me been vargur and sentry rail domi combo. Looting and salvaging while shooting rats also makes isk/hr ratio better..

Thanks for the advice, but I'm really not that worried about having the highest possible dps, I used a pimped nightmare in Sansa space, it did insane dps, but I didn't find it as fun to fly as my crap fit rattle.

According to chruker (and my own experience), these are the deviant angel ships. Each only does either additional EM or additional Thermal exclusively, the rest of their damage is explosive/kinetic or kinetic/explosive. The trick with a lot of these is... they will often oppose each other in random spawn waves. What I mean by that is, if the spawn is "8 x (Battlecruiser) Gistatis Legatus/Tribunus" then you might get 8 Legatus or 8 Tribunus or anywhere in between. So you might go in expecting to have an even mixture of EM/Therm and then suddenly get curb stomped by a full spawn of heavy Therm. Sometimes the "opposite" ship doesn't deal any EM/Therm. Also, the additional EM/Therm is always in the guns and never the missiles (which are exclusively explosive). Anyway, here they are:

Frigates
Gistii Impaler (45% EM) (opposite hunter and others)
Gistii Hunter (76% Therm) (opposite impaler and others)
Gistii Thug (50% EM) (opposite outlaw)
Gistii Ruffian (28% Therm) (opposite nomad) - target paints

Elite frigates
Arch Gistii Impaler (27% EM) (opposite arch hunter and others)
Arch Gistii Hunter (80% Therm) (opposite arch impaler and others)
Arch Gistii Outlaw (77% Therm) (opposite arch thug) - web/scram
Arch Gistii Ruffian (78% Therm) (opposite arch nomad) - target paints

Destroyers
Gistior Trasher (44% EM) (opposite seizer)
Gistior Seizer (80% Therm) (opposite trasher)

Cruisers
Gistum Centurion (34% EM) (opposite phalanx and others)
Gistum Phalanx (57% Therm) (opposite centurion and others)
Gistum Depredator (28% Therm) (opposite predator)
Gistum Crusher (14% EM) (opposite smasher) - target paints

Elite Cruisers
Arch Gistum Centurion (34% EM) (opposite arch phalanx and others)
Arch Gistum Phalanx (54% Therm) (opposite arch centurion and others)
Arch Gistum Depredator (29% Therm) (opposite predator)
Arch Gistum Crusher (23% EM) (opposite arch smasher) - target paints

Battlecruisers
Gistatis Legatus (24% EM) (opposite tribunus and others)
Gistatis Tribunus (44% Therm) (opposite legatus and others)

Battleship
Gist Seraphim (31% EM) (opposite cherubim)
Gist Cherubim (52% Therm) (opposite seraphim)
Gist Saint (52% Therm) (opposite nephilim) - target paints
