In light of Kitty McKitty's thread about Icelandic Beer and space beer (Linky), I think it would be interesting to get everyone's opinion on their favorite beers. Flying drunk (and FCing drunk) is a well-honored past time in EVE, and it is always good to have your eyes opened to new and tasty beers.

Here are a few of my favorites (with links!)

Kona Brewery Redman Red Ale (In the draft-only section)
Kona Brewery Longboard Island Lager (much more widely available)
St Arnold Brewery Oktoberfest (Local Houston, TX brewery)
Shiner Bock (Also widely available)

Oh... and find me a *good* beer I can get locally, and I'll send you 15M ISK. (I tend to like ales that are more malty than hoppy, and aren't very bitter)

Well... that could mean anything from a Pilsner to a Lager to a Porter.... and everything in-between.

At my local Liquor/wine/beer store, the "german beer" section is 6 shelves that are about 15 feet (5m for my european friends) long. Local beers are about 10 feet. Selection isn't an issue.

Weihenstephan

And something I had in the Cotswolds from some small local brewery, was like drinking bread pudding. Can't recall the name, had to much of it.

Duvel is ok, but not a favorite.

And yes, Americans do brew beer. Some good stuff, too (as is evidenced by my OP).

But since you brought up Belgian beers... any suggestions for good belgian Red Ales that I can actually get here in the states?

312/goose island beers. Some lienienkugein... I have no idea how to spell that.
Pacifico w/ Lime.
Becks.
Moosehead.
Some honey weiss amber lagers or ales.
Stone brewery has a good selection best known for their IPAs.
Greatlakes: Elliot Ness specifically.

I really need to be in a liquor store or in a brewery to skim a menu to remember everything.

Not a specific beer, but a Black and blue or a black velvet is a good drink.

Just discovered Ommegang Hennepin, a delicious Belgian-style golden ale. Truly one of the best beers I've ever tasted. In fact, when I find someplace carrying them, I purchase all of them in stock. And at 7.7% alcohol by volume, it also carries a little kick, though unlike many other high alcohol content beers, you don't get any alcohol after-taste at all, a little dangerous.

If nothing else, Belgians are masters at disguising high-ABV beers.

Cusqueña. It's a light, crisp beer that is quite malty, with a slight bitterness. Sainsbury's sell it here in the UK. It is available in the US, but don't know where. Nigh on impossible to find here in the local pubs though.

Guiness! But i actually use that more for cooking that drinking. Makes a lot of BBQ sauces nicer and have better texture.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Btw, you should be able to find it at Spec's. That's where I get 'em.

Some other good choices:
- Stone Pale Ale, IPA if you like teh hops
- Czechvar - a Czech pilsner; actually it's the original Budweiser, but they can't sell it under their Czech name in the States because some other company already owns the right to it (even though they've been brewing the stuff since the 15th century).
- Ommegang Rare VOS - another fantastic amber ale from the Ommegang brewery. This one is darker, but not overly filling. Goes down super smooth and has a nice, almost buttery finish. I highly recommend.
- Schneider Weisse - excellent German Heffe Weissen.
- Gambrinus - A wonderful Czech lager, not sure if they export it though.
- Fireman's #4- local brewed blonde ale, tasty and refreshing for those hot summer evenings.
- Real Ale's Coffee Porter - If you like coffee with your beer, can't go wrong here (seasonal: fall)

I'll go ahead and stop here cause this could get outta hand...

No good beer in America? Typical uneducated European flippery.

Mac and Jacks African Amber, brewed in Redmond, WA.
Moose Drool (have to go easy on these, they give wicked beer farts) by Big Sky Brewing Co, Missoula, MT.
1554 , New Belgium Brewing, makers of the famous Fat Tire, Ft. Collins, CO
Black Butte Porter, Deschutes Brewery Portland and Bend, OR
Bitches Brew, Dogfish Head Brewery Milton Head, DE (just to prove I am not biased to the West of the US....which I am)

Just a few examples of the excellent beers currently being brewed here in the US.

Sig blah blah blah blah

Eichhof Klosterbräu my favorite! Brewed by monks who have the time to do every step in the process of the creation by hand and with the greatest possible care to produce the perfect beer (at least in my imagination).
