How do you know you suck at eve?

I take issue with some of the short sighted ego saving words that get thrown around in eve.

Turn up with 1 more ship than the other side in PvP and you're a blob, call in a couple of carriers to help thwart a 20man battleship gang and you're a filthy hotdropper, change a buy\sell order by 0.01 isk and you're a bot, ignore people in local while mining and you're a bot, cloak in a system while you go empty your bladder then get distracted by the cat followed by making a cup of tea and grabbing a biscuit and you're an afk cloaker, the list of stupid goes on.

So here's how I learnt I'm terrible at eve,
On the most part recently I've been floating around making other people explode in low sec, some acquiring of things and some running of corp stuff.

I was in my viator picking some bits up from a low sec station, upon landing on the station I see a tornado at range, a moa and a zealot sat on station.
I dock, I grab my bits and I undock, ctrl + space so I come to a hault. Zealot starts mwding towards me so I start hitting dock again before he manages to bump me (although it's a large station so good luck with that).
I dock, I undock again, this time just the tornado is outside, again all stop, then try to warp.
He locks me, ctrl + space, dock up again.
I manage to dock with 3/4 armor.

Now I get a convo request "10mil to undock"
I inform him I like walnuts because I'm currently eating walnuts and they're tasty, he posts a link to the sexy ladies, I post several links to nick cage (I have issues).

At the same time, I send a message to one of our FC's (help me obi wan, you're my only hope), TS starts to chatter and a fleet is forming.

Local system "spikes" to 12 reds now, (seriously, it's a viator on station, this is just going to be boring for all)
Local banter, etc.

My friendly fleet has now assembled and is 2 jumps out and spotted by one of the red's scouts so local turns from "herrr herrr nick cage (yeah that's me)" to

"OMG you need a 30man gang to take out 12 you is teh fails at eve"

I'm in a viator.... and 5 min ago it was 3vs1, now it's 2vs1 with ships that can actually fight back.

One of my guys jumps into system and warps to station, informs me there's only an enemy rifter on station, I undock and jump to gate, off I go to sell my space swag.

I'm omitting names to spare egos here but does anyone want to explain which option would make me not suck at eve?

1) pay ransom, hope for best, undock, watch explosion
2) go make a cup of tea\log off until a different TZ so I can make my escape
3) call on corp mates to come cover me while I make my escape

You already chose the right action.

"OMG you need a 30man gang to take out 12 you is teh fails at eve" is failspeak it can be directly translated into queens english however as the following

"Damn you sir, our epic battle against your Viator has been ruined. Curses! Foiled again, we must now go and find ourselves real pvp which we obviously fail at, I bid you good day sir!"

make insta undocks in any station you are likely to visit in nullsec.

And just like that, I have made another EVE player not suck!!!

Anyways, it's just an expression of some folks shallow, entitled ego and lack of moral fiber. And yea, I'm serious about that last part.

Some people think anything is ok as long as they are doing it, and they think anything being done to them (even if it's something they themselves do) is evil/unfair. It's so stupid it's sometimes hard to believe when you see it.

What's scary is that these people aren't bots but actually exist in real life lol. A couple years ago when I was more into pvp I got in a fleet preparing for a hot drop with battleships into low sec. We dropped on the target, just to get counter dropped by carriers. We lost.

My response , as was the response of most of my corp/alliance mates was "wow, that was intense, good fight". But this one nimrod was actually super mad that someone would DARE to do to us what we did to them 1st. Actually MAD. I was glad to get away from that one guy when i left that alliance for another lol.

You're bad at EVE because you didn't have an insta undock. Would have saved you the hassle of actually calling friends and doing the MMO stuff. Cool

Please notice that PvP culture is deeply entrenched in the minds of everybody who undocks in a ship with turret/launcher hardpoints.

There is simply no way you could have avoid being told that you suck at EvE. Telling other players that they suck at EvE, whatever they do and however they react to any situation is the standard.

So:

-Their 3 combat ships against your Viator: you suck, you're a coward (for not undocking), you are a cheap ass who can't afford 10 millions.
-Your 10 friends against their 3 combat ships: you suck, you're a coward (for bringing help), you are a crybaby and a blobbler/hotdropper.

You just can't win, because they didn't get their way and that pissed them off.

It's the same with small gang PvP:

-You outnumber your enemy: you suck at EvE, blobber.
-You brought Falcons and avoided losses: you suck at EvE, you coward/because of Falcon.
-You brought a Logi ratio over what your victim considered acceptable: you suck at EvE, and rely on crutches and horrible game mechanics.
-Your ten man gang of leftovers (two thirds Condors, one third assorted T1 cruisers) didn't engage the ten man armor T3 with Logi support that jumped through the gate you were camping: you suck and will never engage and blablablah.

Honestly, it's better to ignore them altogether. Play your way, **** people off by killing them or denying them kills. Strike when you can, and don't contribute to others' KB stats by embracing "e-honor" and engaging no matter what.

**** that.

If I could, I would put 10 Recons and 10 Logis on each killmail to harvest their stupid, irrelevant complaints.

I would use a dozen Falcons to prevent a single Ibis loss. Give your enemy NOTHING but boredom and frustration.

Also: learn2instadock & instaundock. Warping to a station DOES NOT guarantee docking before being killed.

Many a careless hauler has been surprised at learning the amount of Large artillery salvos they can take (hint: one) while Aura manages their docking permissions next to a station.

MAKE INSTADOCKING & INSTAUNDOCKING POINTS dammit.

Kinda hard to have a insta undock at every station. First you have to be able to make the insta undock unabated. I have them at all my null sec stations and all the trade hubs.

Where I can, when I can. One immeidately out of the line of fire, the second totally off-grid (even from the first BM). The first visit to a new station, planned or unplanned, is always a bit chancy, though.

I will say to the OP, however - they guys you rousted couldn't be all *that* bad: They saw your fleet coming and got out of the way without loss. They may be sore losers, but they've got basic competence.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.
