Anyone got a Mint to go with that Wine?

Does anyone know if EVE will work with Linux Mint 14? I haven't installed Wine yet, but since Mint is a build on Unbuntu, I really don't see a problem, but I just thought I would ask the experts. This is my first day with Linux, so I have a lot of learning to do.

Normally I'd say to upgrade to the latest wine, but I don't know if Mint has an updated 1.5 wine package. You can run Eve in wine 1.4, but you'll need set the overides differently for patch then for playing the game. I recommend the winehq page.

Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution, so the bleeding-edge Ubuntu repositories should work OK with it for both Wine and the drivers.

Baseline is, that everything that works with one Linux Distribution can be made to work on any Linux Distribution. It is really recommended, to use the latest "unstable" builds of wine, as they usually work better due to added fixes and features. As Buzzy said, chances are that the Wine repositories for Ubuntu will work on mint: http://www.winehq.org/download/ubuntu

Even if there is no binary package to be found that works on Mint (and I highly doubt that) you can always build wine from source: http://www.winehq.org/docs/wineusr-guide/installing-wine-source

KDE Mint 14 running EVE under wine works perfectly for me.

Look into using PlayOnLinux, very nice way to manage wine "prefixes."

EDIT: Oh, and I installed the version of wine from this repository (not Mint's default source): https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa
