i still think CCP's idea "wormholes are for visits and not for live there" is better than making another 0.0 sov space from WHs.

Once you make WHs more interesting for long live you will kill last piece of Eve universe which could be called "unknown space" and all universe will become one big ISK-farm.

I don't think w-space has been classed as 'unknown' for a long time- since web sites and guides have been created by the real pioneers that were the first to journey into the unknown.

I would love an 'unknown' space area that was constantly in flux where each 'trip' was completely new but alas there's no such thing.

neat idea though from a technical standpoint it would be a nightmare and tax the heck out of the servers having to track say 200,000 different ballistic controls.

It would just mean there's a different data structure for storing inventory. Right now it's quite compact because every item is essentially the same as every other item and thus is easily represented as a row in the database. However, there are lots of items that are not the same and thus must be represented individually anyway - ships, unpackaged modules, laser crystals, etc.

It's not as technically challenging as you might imagine.

Ed: Also, CCP is dabbling in NoSQL anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if something like this were eminently doable. The real question would be how data consistency is handled. None of the NoSQL solutions out there really make me super happy on this front. On the other hand, I've seen Oracle servers that handled huge quantities of the internet's retail traffic so it'd probably be fine even in DB world.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

One big step to making industry more viable in WH's is to make the POS refinery arrays actually usable.

A good proposal is here.
