Why is Jove space partly developed?

I have been asking myself this question for quite some time. Regions J7HZ-F and A821-A belong to Jove. They are off-limits.

But at the same time these regions are developed (in sense of object placement and station building). There are even InterBus stations with agents (which are of course listed to us as unreachable).

Jove space serves as a placeholder, a bunch of dots on the space map. So the question is: why would CCP invest workforce into the actual development of these regions?

IMO every object's spawn was artificially placed when the game world was created

as in penirgman has like 10 stations by chance, no because devs put them here

if that isnt true chances are its easy to place a station in game for a dev, so they put stuff in jove space assuming one day people would go there, but for lore and people not understanding that 1 jove ship will NOT kill a fleet of other faction ships kept is closed off.

Well there were supposed to be JOVE which is slated as the 5th race... but they buggered off and never developed the jove into the game... pretty much its a ccp playland...

HOPEFULLY the rework being done to EVE will somehow include opening up jove space like they did to drone space back in the day...

Hell we know there are supposed to be all these CRAZED ZOBIE JOVE have the sane jove issue missions to pod pilots to hunt the crazed ones... so why not open up the space and have POD pilots invited into space via WORM HOLE travel...

INTRODUCE a new damage type called trans-dimensional... Have the jove zombies use the sleeper AI...

INTRODUCE Jove agents(not the ones already in game) and missions plus LP store and ability to get thier wicked Ships (takes all 4 races ship skills)

There are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... CCP Goliath wrote:

But why place unreachable InterBus agents for example? Isn't it weird for your local bus company to have relations with aliens?

See those Solar Collectors to the left of the InterBus Station. They are too big for power collection for a Station this size. They connect to a Sub Structure below the Hanger Bay. This is not optimal for powering the Station. The Structure is reinforce with Tech 3 Composite but the Power Lines and Atmospheric Vents are unprotected along the side meaning this structure is not a Bunker to keep people safe from outside Firepower, but to keep the station safe from what ever is inside.

There is only one reason to have that much protection around an area and that much power going in. There is a Spatial Rift inside that structure being fed by those Solar Panels. Then placed under intense Artificial Gravity to shrink it down.

I am not your Galactic Security Adviser or Fleet Intelligence Attache but I can tel you with absolute certainty this...

CCP is giving the Jove, the Spacial Bomb.

It's faster to set things up ahead of time, so you have a framework in place for later development. Having Jovian space in place and partially designed minimizes the work needed to bring it up to spec if they ever decide to make use of it (for example, it would be much easier to flip a toggle and turn on the already-present InterBus stations than it would be to code the stations from scratch).

Blizzard did something similar with World of Warcraft: entire zones were in place at launch, but left in a partially-finished state because it would take less work to get them up and running when they 'officially' opened to the players.

Jove will never be introduced as long as there other things planned, or requested, or content that has not been developed or fixed (trick here)

It would be CCP's ace-up-the-sleeve as a last resort to save EVE from another catastrophic fail expansion like Incarna, or to save EVE from total dullness as all other options are exhausted. Until either of them happen, Jove will be CCP's playground; unless there is a radical change in direction.

As far as I've read from devs themselves, any serious Jove content is out of the question.

I find myself agreeing with the CCP's position on this one: the Jovians are just too powerful to properly utilize in a game like this. It would require that either the Jove get smashed with the nerf bat so we'd have a fair chance , or we'd have to be elevated in power to match them, which would render moot the entire point of having a super-powerful enemy.

Jove space is mostly fluff, but they also hold alliance tourneys and events there, and GM's use it as a base of operations and testing various things they want to use in the events I.E. the manned sansha invasion events. The agents are not actually active iirc, they just have them to run various live server tests

Oh well, hope InterBus station appears in player space some time soon.

Interbus does have agents in our space. I don't think you're worried about that tho.

I hopeful that one day they'll let the jove join in with the rest of the universe. That they'll have super sleeper AI and actually take over 0.0 space and take sov using titans, supercarriers and huge support fleets. The player alliances will have to fight back and take back the space they lost.

The way I look at Jove I see them being close to Tech 5 or 6, So maybe in the future when we get up to that Tech level they might implement Jove ships.

Because it forms part of the backstory.

I've been to Jovian Space a few times on the test server - you're not missing anything.

The Jovians were internally conceived as a joke; if you read the description of them:

"Their superior technology has enabled them to infiltrate the other races with bugging devices and sensors, giving them unrivalled access to information, which they use to maintain their strong position among the races. The Jovians sell a lot of their advanced technology equipment to the other races and it is this, more than anything else, which keeps the others at bay.

Jovian society is mysterious and difficult to comprehend. For this and other reasons it remains very much closed to the other races, and few foreigners reside within the Jovian Empire."

They used the jove race to be the litteral games masters and controllers of New Eden: CCP.

And as you probably know, the forum and in-game avatars of CCP Employees were Jovian.

So, the Jovian race was an extension of CCP, trying to keep the RP element of an MMO as real as possible by becoming part of the New Eden folklore.

If we are demi-gods, they are the gods - and CCP cannot allow demi-gods to become gods, unless you prove yourself worthy and get invited to join them [get hired and fly north to Iceland].

If anyone at CCP wants to chime in a prove me wrong, be my guest - although there is probably a standing order from Hilmar not to discuss the Jovian race on the forums...

I am not really that concerned about what some peeps at CCP spend their time on nine years ago.

Devs used to be Jovian and come on as Jovian.

CCP does stuff out there, and the alliance tournament used to be out there too.
And there were ways to actually get there too. . .
