The Knight's old Code is a moral system that stated all knights should protect others who can not protect themselves, such as widows, children, and elders. All knights need to have the strength and skills to fight wars in New Eden. Knights not only have to be strong but they are also extremely disciplined and are expected to use their power to protect the weak and defenseless. Knights vowed to be loyal, generous, and "of noble bearing". Knights are required to tell the truth at all times and always respect the honour of women. Knights not only vowed to protect the weak but also vowed to guard the honor of all fellow knights. They always have to obey those who are placed in authority and are never allowed to refuse a challenge from an equal. Knights live by honor and for glory. Knights always keep their faith and never turned their back on a foe.

A knight was to follow a strict set of rules of conduct. These were the knightly virtues. (Original knights had few of these qualities. When the church deemed knights too bloodthirsty and unruly, they intervened and began stressing the importance of virtues until the church became an integrated part of knighthood and chivalry.) The virtues included:
* Mercy (Towards the poor and oppressed. They were supposed to be harsh with evil-doers.)
* Humility
* Honor
* Sacrifice
* Fear of God
* Faithfulness
* Courage
* Utmost graciousness and courtesy to ladies
