Ok, I know this has come up a few times, but this is the first time I've hit this during the week. Just had an alt that had to try a few times to get into the game, and there are 2300 people in Jita right now. CCP needs to either upgrade the node, or actually start banning the spam bots. I know they'll just make a new spam bot, but I'd expect CCP to keep banning.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

They did upgrade the node, the problem is that we just filled it up again. Also EVE is dying

The Jita node is already running the biggest/fastest server CCP can use given their present server-side code.

So, I guess it's time for CCP to start banning the spam-bots because fixing their single-threaded server code is hard.

It's like (automobile) traffic planning: Every time you widen the roads, more idiots move in,m and the traffic problem goes right back to where it was, and somewhat worse than before, usually.

People have a certain tollerance for congestion and inconvenience. Every time you try to relieve the congestion, you will find that the population density rises until you reach that threshold again. the *only* effective way to cap traffic (Jita) issues is to cap population density.

Which CCP does.
And it works.


Jita is doing just fine. If you can't get in there, hit Amarr, or Hek, or Rens, or Dodixie...

They're what the market will bear. Expanding Jita access would only increase their numbers as well. Banning wonlt get rid of them - they spawn like a hydra.

A post-spamming limiter would help, but would gimp real conversations too, so won't be used. Maybe blanking the text content of Jita Local? But that would gimp honest* sales as well.

I dont think anything relevant or important has been said in Jita local for quite a while now. I think if they limited the number of times a message may be repeated along with the frequency would force the botters to leave Jita for more traditional forms of botting like L4's in The Forge. Or at least have to develop a script that cycles through variants of the scam spam.

The rarity of honest sales combined with the robustness of contract sales and the actual market leads me to think that blanking out jita local would be extremely effective while also only giving honest players only a minor inconvenience

…at least it was dangerous back when it was overfilled with 500 people and lagged so hard that it took 3 minutes to undock. These days? Pff… not only does it not lag undock, but you wouldn't get shot at anyway. P

I like the idea of making Jita local like wh local.
Then banning the people who make up 1% of all posts solo.
Or more insidiously keep letting them post instead of gagging but their comments are only on their client for like 5 minutes

Ooh do the last one that would be so evil and far better than any gag or ban to them.

This. I've been to Jita exactly ONCE this year (2013). And I have an alt there that I only logged onto twice so far.

And by the way, Jita wasn't the lowest PLEX price today. Oddly refreshing. :)
