Ok, so what does this have to do with the price of milk? Nothing. seriously, you are using THAT to deduce that all PVP is gate camping? Are you aware enough to even fathom of how incredibly stupid that is?

I'll break it down for you:

1) You have three months in the game and come on the forums and whine about things being broken, one of which is 'gate camping'.
2) ok, fair enough. I think and many others think that, ok, perhaps you were not clever enough to figure out how to avoid them or even that you can
3) But no, it turns out it is only based upon an out of context quote from the CSM minutes that leads you to believe that this game sucks because of 'gate camps'?

Really?

Are you serious?

It is hard for me to actually fathom this kind of smug obliviousness, but help me try.

You are being serious, yes?

Yes, again, what does this have to do with your point? They want more new players? Great - so do I! Does that mean EVE is dying? No. Does it have anything remotely to do with any of the things you were whining about? Absolutely not.

Great. So what? What does this prove? What does this have to do with your OP?

Quote:
My OP is that it's harder for new players to get into the game, I think "being of a young character age" and reading every thing I can can get my hands on regarding EvE, qualifies me perfectly as having an opinion on the matter.

Your OP is full of ignorance and its not hard to see why:
You are both smug and arrogant enough to have the chutzpah to apply your blindingly obvious fallacious arguments and apply them to an equally broken conclusion that "EVE is broken" and expect people who know better than you to take you seriously?

No.

That's not a sandbox MMO universe, that's Pirates Online.

Well yes, that sounds about right. Certainly sounds a lot better thsn Spreadsheets Online, which is what you are suggesting it be turned into.

Actually my point was that the more EvE evolves, the harder it becomes for newer players to get going,

Well they're doing a lot to counteract that, such as lowering skill prereqs, simplying the UI and adding more ingame information you used to need addons to see. That sort of stuff. FW and the Venture are also absolute godsends for the newbie player, as was the frigate/cruiser buffs.

The only thing I really agree with you on is that corp mates are free to attack their own corp. You should be given an option when agressed by a corp-mate to call concord on them. No reason a corp mate should be attacking their own and getting away with it.

You have the ability to call retribution down on those pilots. It's just that the form of that retribution isn't through CONCORD, it's through your other corp-mates.

Well, we kind of go like that when we read some emo teen wall of text. Go figure...

And I will state once again, for the record, that the normal point of a forum is to at least say something constructive.

"Oh no, too long didnt read" or "even the TL;DR was too long" ... mmm, not constructive. Save your breath, move along then maybe?

Did you actually have something interesting to add to the conversation or were you driving through? Is reading 3 lines really so much effort? You could have written "I don't agree" and at least It would have been taking a position.

Apparently he doesn't think you are playing nice in the forum sandbox.

Emergent gameplay? All I have seen is this cheap tactics which rely on poorly coded mechanics. It's not emergent, it's abusive use of a feature that was coded for a different reason. Bumping is a side effect of the bubble all objects have, probably to stop objects getting clipped into each other, I mean, as if your piddly little Rifter could bump a Titan. POS Bowling anyone? Or try googling "Zombie smartbombing Yulai".

EvE has mining ships that take months to skill into to use properly; they are a gameplay choice. EvE has Marauders that take half a year to fly properly, also a MAJOR gameplay choice. Imagine someone skilling up into a Golem, then spending 2 billion just to get it "mission basic standard" to find out a corp mate is an awoxer, and they can just kill it mid-mission with a 5 mill ship, cause it's "legal" to attack Corpmates.

Someone forgot to pay 10m for their mining permit.

..OP, tell us more about your encounter with the friendly New Oder of Highsec agents!

But seriously, you have the new player fallacy. Which follows:

I'm new, and have crap ships.
Other people have awesome ships. (Even tho all they use them for is grinding PVE to make enough ISK for even more awesome ships.)
I want awesome ships!
Must grind boring PVE to make money to buy awesome ships.
Once I have enough money for the most awesomist ship I can finally start playing Eve!
Now I have the most awesomist ship. But I don't want to lose it. Better stick to safe PVE.

Is whole risk aversion game play new players have has no place in Eve. Well I take that back. The place it has is at the end of a real players guns.

Seriously, use high sec as a springboard. Run some missions, buy 10 T1 fitted frigs, and go to low sec. And laugh all the way back to highsec in your pod for all the fun you just had.

Even better, find a nul sec outfit and go down there. Most of them will damn near buy you everything you need to get started, and teach you extremely valuable information. And you'll be out in small gang pvp from day one.

Oh wait.

I guess none of that compares to the fun of mining ice in Highsec for 3m ISK/hour.

But at least it's safe right?

Oh wait.

Such is the Eve Online forums.

In my 12 years of gaming, I've never seen such a collection of interweb tough guys and asshattery that graces these boards on a daily basis. It's to be expected of most gaming forums, particularly in the PvP sections, but Eve takes it to a whole new level. At least for other games, the forums are somewhat of a resource and a gathering of community. Here, not so much.

As far as I've seen anyway, there's very little to be gained by posting anything of significance on these boards.

brotato... your avatar... pretty tough scrowl and you added some shoe polish under an eye...

some people just don't take Eve all that seriously, maybe you should try and do the same
