Skill changes - Dreads!

Hi all!

I've noticed Advanced Weapon Upgrades V will become a requirement for the dreadnoughts. Therefore, according to CCP's saying: "if you could fly it before, you will be able to fly it then", does that mean as long as I have Racial Battleship V along with necessary capital skills I will get Advanced Weapon Upgrade V for free?

I haven't heard anyone mention the advantage of training to SIT in a dreadnought now in order to save the approximately 20 day train. As a result, it has brought me to question whether it will actually end up this way. Can anybody clear this up for me?

Thank you,

No free skills. If you can fly it now, you will be able to fly it after the prereqs change in the summer expansion. You will NOT get the new prereqs for free.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Aren't you getting free skill points for the battle cruiser changes? How is this different?

You can't siege a dread without AWU 5 anyway so it's hardly relevant.
After the changes if you have Dread 1 trained already then you will be able to fly the ship, regardless of having the pre requs or not.

There is no Bob.

With destroyers and battlecruisers, they're changing the pre-reqs for the ship, hence they have to give out skills otherwise no one would be able to fly either type ship after the change

With the Dread (and carrier, super, titan, command ship, HAC, etc, etc) they're changing the pre-req on the skill, not the ship. Hence, since you have the [racial] Dread skill for the ship you're flying, you will still be able to fly that Dread after the change with no free skills given our. What you won't be able to do is to inject another [racial] Dreadnaught skill without having trained Tactical Weapon Reconfiguration to 1 first.

And to clarify further, from the devblog:

Quote:
Skill changes under the microscope

Except for the Navy Battleships, Destroyers and Battlecruisers (whose reimbursement is detailed in the next part) all the affected ships will still be flyable even after the change with no fancy reimbursement, provided you can fly them on Tranquility right now. This works because once a particular skill is trained, the system doesn’t care about sub-requirements anymore. Theoretical and unlikely example: you have Amarr Battleship 1 and Amarr Cruiser 3 currently trained. You are pod-killed without having a proper clone, and Amarr Cruiser 3 is reduced to 2. You will still be able to fly the Armageddon, as long as Amarr Battleship 1 is retained.

Because the changed requirements, are only needed to inject the skill.

I have some alts training leadership 5 and warfare link specialist 4, so they can inject the Command Ship skill. I will not have the requirements after the change to inject the Command ship skill, but as I already have it injected I'll be able to fly it.
I will not therefore, be getting lots of leadership skills handed to me after the change.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

Thanks guys!

I was trying to hold off training dreads a little longer. Can't wait for the changes! Gives me a reason to train siege since I won't be flying the naglflar!

Giving you AWU V means you have AWU V now without training for it. Net gains.

Taking my BC V and splitting it in four skills at V means...nothing to me. I cannot pilot anymore ships, or better, or differently. My character stays the same. But my clones now cost more. Net loss.

How is this the same? Not even remotely.
