Having just returned to the game after quite a long break I would appreciate it if someone could update me on the current PVP changes. Which races are performing well and why etc... I'm trying to decide which route to go down.

Thanks in advance.

Every race is good in pvp, depends on the circumstances.

It's dead. Nobody does it any more because all the ships are terrible. And it's impossible to find good fights. It probably died about 2 years ago.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

yea, nowadays everyone just enters the raid finder queue and does boss fights for tokens to upgrade gear.

All seriousness, the level of faggotry has increased somewhat, I see a lot more Recons (Falcons) and a lot more cases of people not playing until they have a massive blob.

Instalock gangs are pretty gay too but relatively easy to avoid or farm for easy tackle kills, so yeah, sometimes its the best game in the world, sometimes it just ends in a wholesale blobbing/falconing/instalock camp and so on.

And yes, nanofags are everywhere, but thats largely due to the popular Meta atm (Blob the **** out of everything till it dies).

PvP is certainly not dead, it just cost more and requires a bit more time, planing and maybe a bit more skills to do it properly. I'm by far no good solo PvPer but i've been trying to do some solowork over the last couple of months. I don't know much about lowsec PVP but due to this offgrid ganglink thingy going on I rather fight in 0.0 across a wider margin of systems to avoide this terrible offgridboosting mechanism.
I dont see blobbing as such a big problem when soloing, you just have to pay attention to the local window and to certain patterns, I mean you obviously dont wanna commit to a fight with a Maller on a gate :P
The biggest problem for PVPers nowdays is the marketprices, PVPing in anything larger than a Cruiser is super expensive.

The meta is certainly leaning towards Speed and Nanoships nowdays, certainly when your soloing since speed and agility lets you dictate range. That being said, you can still fit a brawling moa or a plated thorax and take it out on a solo roam, you just have to chose you targets a bit more carefully.

Take a look at kil2 pvp commentaries, good inspirationsource.

pvp is dead?!

Bummer I must be playing a different game.

All the races frigs and cruisers (T1) are well balanced now so pick what you like the most and go out and shoot stuffz

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

With regards to frigates best ships are currently Blaster Boats if you like the close range fight. With their absolutely crazy DPS they kill everything else within seconds.

If you prefer kiting then go Caldari. Missiles and Rockets got improved significantly, a lot of space for e-war like tracking disruption or sensor damping and good speed. With this you can kill brawlers easily without getting any scratch... if you catch them at range without a jump gate nearby.

Loosers of last balancing round are definately Minmatar ships. They are now scrap. Really.
Winmatar was the past, now it is Submatar.

Depends on your favorite pvp style, caldari are good, minmatar are good, amarr are good, gallente as per usual kings of gate camping but rather bad generally at everything else.

1v1 forget it, it's 1 first followed by kinder surprise party, one day it will be 3 day after maybe a whole 30 or 150man fleet, you never know. I've even seen popping from some rapier cyno an avatar/aeon+30bc/cruiser on a 15man frigate gang in null, hilarious isn't it?

Apart from off-grid boosting, I'd say low sec pvp is very decent atm. The tiericiding has been a success (albeit not perfect), and there is a great diversity of ships flying around.
