So, I got home from work after a long day at work. I flopped down infront of my desktop, paid a couple bills online, check my email and then figured I log into eve. Up pops the eve update. Ok, update it. Comp does its usual "are you sure you want to let Eve Online change these files?" I click yes, watch the bar fill up while it lists the patch fixes. 2 bugs with ship spinning, and some other misc stuff. Yeay, done. Er wait, this is unusal. Eve wants to restart my desktop. er never seen that before but ok. Not like I have anything open at this point, so ok. Comp does its little rebot thing, and goes to my log in page. I click on my profile, enter my pw and then Boom.

Blue screen of death. Blue screen of death hits your comp wreckingly, causing it to no longer boot up. You'll stare at a gray screen while your comp just sits there. Lawls are on you as you try to figure out wtf happened.

All jokes aside. As any one else had this problem or something similar?

negative. At least dont know yet i havent restarted my comp yet, and has not been asked.

I haven't restarted comp yet either come to think of it.. I'll let you know if it crashes once I do. P

if eve wants to reboot your compy somthing is very wrong. but if there was another boot ini thing, the forums would have gone insane by now.

You sir just might have hit the lottery of bugs and found one of those 1/1 million bugs that happen.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Since that incident, the client does not even contain a boot.ini anymore. Also, as previously mentioned, none of the client files require a Windows reboot after changing either, so as Obsidian Hawk correctly states, if that happens something is very wrong.

On the other hand, a bluescreen and subsequent boot failure may also indicate a hard drive failure... but without exact error message of the bluescreen, that's hard to tell.
