Around half of them aren't even Noob's. They have members From 2006. I am sure I have even seen a character as far back as 2004. They are a starter group for a Major Alliance. We figured this out on our own with our spies. They use the TEST Alliance Mumble, and several Test members are in the channels they frequent.

Oh man, you figured us out.

We're secretly all test vets starting up a new power bloc to overrun the stale null sec situation.

Seriously though thats the most hilarious thing I've ever heard.

As for that rather optimistic portrayal of the war situation......I believe the war report speaks for itself.

Well, you were the ones who wardecced them. Who knew there would be consequences from that sort of thing?

Since when is "with our spies" a synonym for "by lurking in their public chat channel"?

Let's stop beating around the bush, the message here is "We wardecced what we thought would be a bunch of newbies because we wanted easy fights we could laugh about, but now it turns out they're doing better than us and that is SO UNFAIR."

That's the difference between blobbing and small-gang. When you're blobbing, fate (or the enemy FC, rather) decides who lives and who dies, and no skill or judgement on the part of an individual will change that. So it is unfair to judge someone by their losses, in such a situation.

However when you're fighting outnumbered, in a small gang situation, using a presumably alt-heavy force, individual skill DOES matter. And losses will be caused directly by a lack of ability, and poor judgement. In such a situation, it is completely valid to kick someone for losing a ship as it is an indicator of their overall lack of skill.

Character created in 2004 reporting in. I don't have more than 1.7M SP though, so just because some characters are old doesn't mean that the player isn't still new to this game. I think a lot of people who tried the game before (and maybe got stuck in something incredibly boring such as mining) took this as a chance to actually see how you have fun in EVE.

Also, I love your spies.

Since I am head diplomat of Panda Cave, I would like to point out that:

A) we have lost a grand total of 2 battleships which is far less than you, No reason to stop the war for this reason.

B) Although your sniping was mildly effective at first we clearly countered it, And fast.

Panda Cave will not be leaving the war, We will be delving further in, We will smash you into submission with the rest of you to teach you that it is NOT OK to beat up the noobs for your 'easy kills'. I suggest you drop the war before you loose yet Another vindi RGC :)

Yours sincerely,

As the self professed Classy one, I am here to offer an antidote to Zanzibar's comment. I shall be as impartial as possible from the PANDA Side. Cool

As to how the war is going, we are enjoying ourselves.
We had morale problems when as we where unprepared initially to the sniper fleet, especially with the use of a neutral alt bumping preventing warp off, where I lost my megathron, however, this was flipped, and we where able to score two kills on their fleet, then they scattered.

Morale problems where sorted with liberal application of booze bought for us by CCP falcon and CCP giant last night at https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=176728&find=unread

We are ready for another week's worth of war, and as of just now, 3 of our battleship losses, still a drop in the ocean. We have some nice little surprises for you.

A few people have been spreading that around, yeah. We're definitely not all newbies, there are some people who started the game years ago, played a few months, gave up and came back and there are alts or even mains who've got lots of experience in other areas of the game who are wanting to try something new or get a break from "Internet Spaceships are Serious Business" kind of attitudes. We basically have an open door policy, and it looks like we've pretty much attracted some of the best people in EVE with it, though we do joke to each other that we're entirely made up of spies. Obviously where folks have experience to share we listen, so in some ways we're ahead of the game (in particular we've got some really good FCs - you know who you are, give yourselves a pat on the back and a shot of bourbon!) but either most of our members are real newbies or doing a really good impression of it. Also just because we listen doesn't mean we won't ignore what we were told just to see what happens. Bear in mind we started shortly after the battle of Asakai, and that got a lot of attention focused on EVE from the wider gaming world, so there are plenty of players who saw that and wanted to give EVE a try - stuff like this dev blog is pointing them in our direction in particular.

As for the TEST connection, both TEST and Brave Newbies have their roots in reddit, so a lot of people see that as proof that we're all TEST alts because we came from the same place, but that seems kind of silly to me; I know people from all sorts of different alliances contribute over in the main EVE subreddit, not just TEST. TEST were among the first to hear about us because of that shared communications medium, and I think they helped us out with some ISK when we started and the use of their public voice comms for coordination, but since then we've had donations from plenty of others including our enemies, so I wouldn't put too much weight on the fact TEST started the trend. As far as I know, we actually pick up a lot of people on Reddit who want to join EVE but aren't interested in what TEST has to offer, whether that's nullsec life or their culture or what have you.

Personally if it is a conspiracy and I'm just missing all the details I'm kind of OK with that because I'm still having loads of fun.

Great post, Vayne. That's exactly the way I see it as well.

I checked out the game on trial for a few hours 6 years ago but didn't really get into it. After reading a lot about Eve due to the battle of Asakai, I decided to sub that old account for one month to give the game another try.
I think there were (or maybe still are) a great number of people interested in Eve, but not playing it. And I'm quite sure the big battle caused a significant percentage of those to read some articles about Eve, which made them realize how awesome it can be. This probably resulted in many inexperienced players trying out the game recently.

But being a noob in Eve is quite hard. There's a lot to learn and earn before you can get to the fun stuff. So when a noob hears about this new Corporation that allows you to join a huge swarm of fellow noobs and instantly have tons of fun together, while farming tears of veteran players, the noob is instantly sold. I know I was.

So my theory is that Brave Newbies Inc. mostly consists of a large number of post-Asakai Noob Boomers. But of course there are also quite some veterans (both main and alt) and spies.

Whatever the case may be, I count myself very lucky that this Corp exists during my first week in Eve. I'm blowing up my first Rifters and Thrashers while ganking very expensive ships all around lowsec in real Corp vs Corp war, flying deep into nullsec to swarm-suicide on one of the big alliances there, camping stations and practicing stuff like kiting with other noobs. I doubt there is a way to learn Eve that is more fun.

Nice to see CCP found yet another example to support its goals to "dumb-down" the game:

"Certainly there are also hurdles to overcome and when asked about them, Matias mentioned his priority number one: accessibility. He considers EVE Online having by far the most ***complex*** game interface he has ever seen, and he wants things to be much more intuitive. Also he wants to see sandbox elements which certainly exist within the game to be more easily accessible, as they seem to be ***difficult*** if not even nigh-impossible to find for a new player."

"Intuitive" and "accessible" is one thing. Dumb and childish is another.

I hope CCP goes for the former.
