Only way to move forward in terms of WIS is to delete the whole thing to reduce CCP's bandwidth usage, pretty sure they'd save more money in bandwidth than WIS could ever make them.

Now with 100% less Troll.

After playing Planetside 2 for over a month, i've drawn some interesting conclussions.

#1 PS2 is what Sony got from helping out CCP with DUST (technology transfer for a PC game quite similar to DUST)
#2 DUST is very likely to become even more niche than EVE due to the awfuly unaffordable losses of casual FPS players
#3 DUST barely will pay back its development cost due to low population as per #2
#4 no matter what DUST does, EVE is going to keep stagnating on its own as the whole DUST only impacts a tiny EVE demographic

As for WiS, it's too late. EVE will not last long enough for us getting WiS in any meaningful way.

Of course, they could just make a big WiS annoouncement this Fanfest, but provided how they barely will be able to announce some iteration on POSes... well, I guess the big Fanfest news will be about the Jove (another nail in the coffin for EVE) and Mittens resigning as CEO of the Goons. Plus lots of shiny same old crap and cheerful back tapping.

What? Big smile

Are you stoned?!

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

As an idea related to what is quite possibly the least popular thing in this game, I'd like to suggest that you let us open the door, if only to meet other players docked in the same station. What would be the purpose?

There are some things that as of yet cannot be shared easily, like overview settings. I'd like to be able to go to a corpie's CQ and give them bookmarks and overview settings and stuff that I might want to share on a limited basis. I'd also like to be able to do the stuff I already can, like trading items and transferring ISK.

This way, CCP can work on WiS in a very small and discreet way, allowing two avatars to share the same space and interact in a limited fashion with very little added game mechanic to complicate things.

This dovetails with my idea of habitation modules at a POS. I'd love to have a few friends over at my space penthouse while we plan our next roam, or whatever.

Yes. I'm sure spending a lot of man hours on the least popular feature of the game will work out in spades. More T-shirts I say. Sov system still sucks? Faction warfare still busted? Hell with it. What we need is furries. Yiffing in the station. Every station. Like star trek online.

More CQ vanity items. More CQ variety perhaps a window to the outside of the station for a vet reward.

So, if CCP does not deliver what you want, within your timetable, EVE is doomed to fail?

Gotcha.

It's the opposite. Every system is bound to fail beyond certain point unless it changes before the need to change surfaces.

EVE's need to change is surfacing and CCP is stuck in the stage where they start thinking about changing before the system collapses -but then the system is already collapsing and the necessary changes slowly scalate its unlikeliness.

I mean, EVE could save itself miraculously, but that doesn't changes that CCP should be implementing now the plans they should had developed two years ago right for this stage.

It's like growing old, you can start living healthy at 50, but at that point all the unhealthy habits will have taken their toll. The time to start healthy habits was at 30 so they were in place by 40 to keep you well by 50. EVE is turning 40 and they're thinking about starting to exercise once they're 50.

Unless they got a miraculously good DNA, it's too late. POSes should had been fixed last year so they could tackle SOV this year and start adding new gameplay venues next year before the effects of marketing stimuli begin fading. Or they could just have added new gameplay venues two years ago... maybe the ones they had been hinting since 2006.

But now, they're fixing by 2014 what they needed to have sorted in 2012 in order to answer in 2014 the ultimate question:

"Why should someone start playing EVE now if he hasn't tried/liked it yet since 2003?"

By the way, someone check my maths here...

EVE total subscribers = 450,000 (as advertised)
Serenity subscribers= 100,000 (EVE Offline estimation*)
Tranquility subscribers= 350,000 (EVE Offline estimation*)

So let's say CCP fixes POSes and draws back all the old farts who need revamped POSes to return, and then CCP fixes nullsec and draws back all he old farts who left because of broken nullsec... We're talking about all the big scale development for the next 2 years (plus many smaller scale development iterating the old existing content), and after that time they still will not have made a single thing to draw in a single new player who hasn't tried/liked EVE yet, but may try/like it because of New Feature X.

Tranquility has lost 50,000 subscribers since the pre-Incarna peak, care to guess what will be the trend for the next 18 months until the winter expansion of 2014?

(I am aware that TQ PCU is holding steady and even has grown after Retribution, but that is a consequence of having more returning players, as they're back to play he game so they impact favorably the PCU/subscriber ratio)

(*)Addendum: the EVE Offline estimation.

Date: Dec. 27 2012

Tranquility weekly average PCU = 33,786 (75,22%)
Serenity weekly average PCU= 12,126 (24,77%)
Total weekly average PCU (2 servers)= 44,912

For a estimated subscrition count of 450,000 subscribers:

TQ: 75,22% = 338,490
SR: 24,77% = 111,465

I think that 350k vs 100k is a sensible estimate as both TQ and SR have got high PCU/subscriber ratios.

Eve Is Dying because it isn't trying to be a second-rate clone of other avatar-based 'social environment' games graphical chatrooms already available.

"raises hand" Uh if we are British do we still need to fake the accent?

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.

No, you're wrong, EVE is attracting all the players it didn't attract the last ten years by doing the same things it has been doing for the last ten years.

So lets hope EvE will last the next ten years.
I wonder how EvE could look like 10 years from now.
Will EvE exist 10 years later the same way it looks now?
