With all these ship balancings happening, is there some sort of 'gameplan' for capitals? Maybe a rough outline of some possible ideas?

While most of these tiericide changes are great, some of us older capital pilots I am sure would love to hear whats in store for capitals, if anything.

I would also like to propose a possibility for titans and doomsday weaponry.

Inject a script to the market that allows for a directed fire doomsday (unscripted would be original AoE). Decrease current doomsday damage by roughly half (2mil -> 1mil), with the script giving, say, 150% bonus to damage. I would even go as far as increasing the fuel consumption by the doomsday by 50%, with the SKILL reducing fuel cost by 5% per level. I would also go as far as giving the titan a 20% bonus to DD damage per level.

I'm sure the numbers need to be worked with, but this would make a LOT of people happy. The AOE dd wouldn't wipe out a fleet entirely, but force them to either repair and regroup, or risk a lot of 'easy kills' from a supporting fleet, while the directed fire would actually do damage to supers, bringing a whole new game to super warfare.

Titans didnt lose their AE based on the effect of 1 titan using it. They lost it because people had enough titans to just chain drop them in a cycle, for several consecutive AEs, making it impossible to field anything but titans.

People have more titans now than they had then.

This idea is worse now than it would have been then.

Courtesy of a friend of mine:

Which brings another good point. Why not give it a range like smartbombs (since thats what it is, a glorified smartbomb) that only reaches 100km instead of obliterating everything on the grid.

This idea will never go through, can you imagine MORE goonswarm tears about not being able to frigate-bc blob supers?

It wouldn't be fair for theit 1bil fleets to lose to 1.5tril fleets after all, so scrap this idea and delete the thread.

I'm sure the Devs will give everyone their ideas on caps and supercaps when they get to that phase of balancing.

I'm also pretty sure that while they may work to balance the ships amongst each other, they will not be giving any caps/supers/titans any sort of buff over their current capabilities.

Are you seriously suggesting Titans with 2,000,000 damage AoE DD damaging everything on grid every 10 minutes?

You do realise the old DD's did only around 50,000 damage and fired every hour, right? And TItans had less EHP than dreadnaughts?

perhaps the AoE DD should give its DPS out over the full 5-10 min time of the cycle, make it a damage over time. the titan cant warp off while its giving out the damage, but it doesn't come out all at once. Also, if 2 titans are on the same grid firing DD's, a stacking penalty is in effect, so the more you have, the less they do. This could help keep blob warfare down without the OMGWTFBBQIWIN button.

P.S. will we be getting V3 graphics updates with the capitals at the same time?

What about Capitals Bombers? Like a stealth bombers (stealth is not necessary). Or give it function to Black Ops.
Capitals bomb slower but have more fly time. Can be locked and destroyed. But have explosive radius 35-50km.
For counter it, enemy can apply on cap.bomber track disruptor (to change bomb direction) or damp (to decrease fly time).
Capital bomb have sugnature factor that allows bomb (super)capitals only.
Or may be, Capital Brander? That can explode and damage nearest ships/structures.
Or may be fighter-brander?

ps. want new drone type. drone-brander! :)

better idea, give titan's the ability to self destruct, and creates a damage AoE based on their hull and structure amount.

Perhaps when a Titan fires an AE Doomsday weapon it leaves something on-grid that prevents the activation (or execution) of other AE Doomsdays. You could in-lore it as some sort of spatial fracture/dissonance caused by the weapon itself. Then, for a few minutes no other AE Doomsdays can be fired whatsoever (and the original Titan that fired will have some ridiculous CD on their AE DD that they won't get the opportunity to fire twice in succession anyways).

It would let one of the "coolest" weapons make a comeback (perhaps as a different item entirely than just being a scripted version, allowing it to have its own market implications) without being fired off in rapid succession and being -the- deciding factor in fleet battles.
