JF Ganking

Not all that long ago, it used to be possible to gank a JF, sitting at zero on a station, without actually needing to tackle him...

The trick was, when the freighter undocks and attempts to warp, it's speed is high enough to warp, but its not aligned. Bumping it with a Machariel or whatever, allowed you to keep the JF's speed up while preventing it from aligning. Then, webbing it with a bunch of webs reduced it's max speed so much, that it could never slow down enough to dock. This was a bug, and I thought it was declared an exploit...

I've heard rumors that this bug is back... and people are again able to web a ship down enough to prevent it from redocking, and then gank it before it can dock, or at least bump it off a station where you can safely gank it...

Has anyone else seen this happen recently?

No but I suggest you buy a JF and we can try it out for science

SCIENCE!!!!

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

No...it was different.
Bumping someone off station is not a bug. Webbing to prevent the target to pick up speed is not either. The whole process you described is totally legal was NOT declared an exploit.
Although I will tease you (if you do not know already) that the mechanic that was declared an exploit had something to do with webs and a Spaceship. (Machariels have not been molested or otherwise been hurt in the process)

Posting in a covert "nerf bumping" thread.

Am i missing something? Why cant you just cyno jump if they dont scram you... Surely you can push "jump" before you get neuted below the threshold.

You would think so.... but many people aren't all that quick-thinking... or don't have "exit cynos" setup...

Perhaps I explained it poorly:
Exploit Notice
Quote:
We've become aware of an exploit that is being abused by players to catch jump freighters in low-sec in order to kill them. By webbing a ship that has initiated warp, the victim will be rendered unable to cancel the warp in order to dock. This is a clear exploit and anyone found abusing this will be dealt with accordingly. Exploiting may result in a permanent suspension from the game. A fix will be deployed for this issue in the near future.

I'm aware bumping off station is a completely legit tactic, and I'm not suggesting it isn't... I'm certainly not suggesting bumping be nerfed...
I've been under the impression that you can currently web someone down to prevent them from docking even when they are inside a station's docking perimeter, but perhaps I'm wrong. I was looking for input from people that may know, but perhaps it's just best to test this myself, in the name of science and all!

Why are you aligning with a JF, and not cynoing out?

If it's in high sec, why are you using a JF to move stuff instead of a freighter?

If you're in low-sec going to high sec, ok, I can see that. Why aren't you using a dead, never used connection on the least popular station?

In this case, it is a lowsec system, and the JF was moving to highsec from nullsec.... The access points were limited to only a couple of systems, and the pilot in question was not smart/cautious enough to take an "extra" jump"...

However, why a JF is in a position to be attacked is not exactly relevant to the discussion...

The exploit was caused by the bug that kept people from cancelling their warp once they had been webbed, which prevented them from docking (because you know, warping and docking do not mix).

If that bug is, indeed, back, then I expect it will still be considered an exploit by the GM team.

Something to test, perhaps, but I would do so cautiously, as the outcomes may be a ban you didn't expect.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

It's not back people are just bad at cynoing in the jump freighter or Just dont crtl space then 'attempt' to warp to a gate..

Stupid people are stupid.

Test it on SISI?

Anyway, that's why I ctrl-space before aligning to the exit gate if there's anyone else in system.

People seem to like to undock at kickout stations and then initiate warp. Their velocity slingshots them off the undock and breaks their invulnerability therefore allowing a mach/ vindi to undock bump/web them and then kill them.

It's also not a matter of them not being able to dock its the fact they have now put themselfes in a situation where they cant dock due to being out of range. Web's now just keep them where they are.

I've also seen JF pilots undock from a Kickout station and warp to an insta-

People are stupid. Jumping away from a kickout station isn't unreasonably dangerous; you light the cyno before undocking and jump before you become vulnerable. Deciding to use a kickout station as your last stop before warping to a HS gate, when there are non-kickout stations available is just idiotic.

Omg...I was on ts with someone that was watching that show...I think he undocked 3-4 times only to always find the Machas wait for him...and then he warped 180 off the station...
What are poeple thinking this days...
