Get a bigger venue. Just do it.

**** the cost, make the extra tickets cost 2x as much, whatever...

Maybe have Fanfest at multiples locations at the same time and link them via sat feeds.

One in Iceland, one in Europe, one in North America, amd maybe one in Australia to start with.
Just have some Devs go to each.

Some great BS in this thread...."I have only weeks to live and my last wish was Fanfest....cough." Please just one more ticket.

You've never tried to actually rent a venue large enough to hold several thousand people, have you? It's not like you can just reserve one a few days out. Hell try renting a hall for a wedding reception for a couple hundred people, and you could easily have to schedule it 8 - 12 months out.

Now try doing that for 5 or 10 thousand. And then try changing it at the last minute.

Let me know how that works out for you.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

10th Anniversary... you knew it would be busy, just pay the scalpers the $450 per ticket and be glad you got to attend at all...

If you want to play, you gotta pay.

Now with 100% less Troll.

in order to ensure that you could actually attend and not sleep outside? Booking the airline tickets is a bit of a PITA for me (multiple connections, making sure I am not commint to staying overnight, ensuring enough time between connections) as well as making sure rooms are available to stay in and that these are affordable (some rooms are EXPENSIVE). Holding off on the thing that people didn't expect to sell out is not suprising (i mean really, outside of the 1 day warning who expected tickets to sell out 1 week after the early bird ended?)

Booking airline tickets and hotels does not take 6 weeks.

Holding off on purchasing the tickets that represent the entire reason you're going is pretty surprising. Especially when they don't represent a very large portion of the total price (I'm not going because a plane ticket would cost me something like 3 Grand, but if I were, I'd make damn sure I had a fanfest ticket before dropping that 3 grand on a plane ticket.).

What if you were only able to afford the hotel a week ago and were waiting for next month to get the ff ticket?

Anyway, I think that is beside the point - no status or waring was given. Sure, "it's the 10 year anniversary, duh it's gonna be popular" and all. But this event has never been sold out before - it being sold out in February was not expected. And I suspect that's also why CCP fumbled the announcement.

We're recruiting and stuff.

If your budget is that tight maybe it would have been better to plan ahead and save up for this trip in advance? Radical concept, I know.

OK I'll admit I was feeling pretty poor so I decided I'd get the thing that would be the bottle neck first then take my chances with the rest.

That's why the ticket was first then the hotel the next month then the flights this month as they were the order of what I perceived would be demand/supply restricted soonest.

Anyone who did this the other way around claiming money issues is not too bright a cookie or more likely hasn't booked anything , was too late getting a ticket and is hamming up the crocodile tears.

my 2 cents, pennies, lire etc

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.

The people saying just move to a larger venue are...amusing. Does Reykjavik even have any larger venues than Harpa?

Every time you post a WiS thread, Hilmar strangles a kitten.

Because Bigger Venues are free. Also Extant.

In case you can't figure out what we're getting at: HARPA seems to be the only venue in Reyjkavik able to accommodate 5,000 people. There are no bigger venues.

No bigger venues, but last year they did speak about having multiple venues, such as using Harpa and Laugardalshöll (location of previous fanfests) which can hold about 5500 people as well.

As for everyone insulting other individuals back off. Fine we get you would have done things differently, and you think their choice of purchases was not the ideal way of going things, but who gives a ****, they want to go to Fanfest, CCP fanfest has never sold out before, and they are looking for other options. Just because you have the money to buy everything right away doesn't mean everyone else does.
