@duckface:

Actually, Lunix did the right thing. Now people will know 'lust4blood' doesn't honor his ransoms. All it takes is searching for his name before making a bad decision - not saying most people are that smart, anyway.

Only mistake here was not naming the thread after lust4blood. I hope she put his toon's name under tags.

I personally despise people who won't honor their ransoms. I haven't had the chance to ransom anybody yet, but this event affects everybody's credibility in the end.

Because people always check the forums looking to make sure their pirate is going to honor their ransom.

Again, not saying this is what people usually do. But there ought to be some intelligent carebears out there.

Every time a pirate doesn't honor a ransom, it has a cascade effect that diminishes the likelihood of others believing us when we make ransom offers as well. EVE may be a harsh reality, but there should be some semblance of honor amongst people, even pirates.

You're cutting into my bottom line, ******. Don't expect me to be nice if I ever catch you.

Yes but then common sense should tell that someone named lust4blood is unlikely to honor ransoms...

Pay a ransom is not dumb. People do honor ransoms (such as me) and there are other people who will not even comment in this forum topic, but read it and act upon this one person ruining it for the rest of us.

I think you should have hired some mercs to make his life miserable instead of placing a bounty. Besides, they would prolly give you a discount considering the circumstances.

Had a pirate grab one of my scout alts one time and try to ransom an empty pod. All it took was saying "brb, googling to see you honor ransoms" to get instantly podded...which is what I wanted.

I still don't understand why people place bounties. I mean, I appreciate the cash, but it doesn't actually motivate anyone to kill them.

There are two kinds of "pirates". There are (or at least were) real professional pirates. They make a living from it and are after money, not kill mails. They almost always honor ransoms. It's a lot better to get most of the value of a ship instead of whatever survives to make it into the can. It's better to get some money from a pod than none. You don't honor a ransom you're not going to get one next time and that hurts your bottom line. The other kind are people who PvP for fun and just call themselves pirates because they think it sounds cool or something. Those guys almost never honor ransoms.

I would have waited 1 minute, then assumed he was stalling until help arrived and podded him for screwing with me.
