Eve launcher not popping up

hello all, I have been playing eve on Kubuntu 12.10 successfully for a month now, today I try and launch eve and get the following error:

I have run the repair tool several times and my internet is working perfectly

What's your Wine Version? You can check with wine --version. If you are still at 1.4 I recommend updating to a current build. If you are at 1.5.23, you will have to go to your winecfg, libraries, add d3d11.dll and set it to disabled.

had something to do with the cache, while I'm glad the problem fixed itself but I'm wondering if their is any way to stop the cache from becoming corrupted in this way, as it's pretty annoying to lose saved settings
