From what I understand, the only type of piracy around these days is suicide ganking. Is there a classier, more refined, more monocle way of pirating in EVE? That, you know, involves hiding in backwater systems, evading authority, and trying to NOT die? Rather than "LolI'mdoinganinternet" and suicide for a quick buck. From what I understand, it is a profitable arrangement, but it leaves me... wanting something more refined, like professional piracy. And rum Pirate

Sir,

the old tricks for hi-sec piracy still work. Or you can go gank **** in 0.0, in renter alliances' ratting and botting systems.

Btw, since when has suicide ganking been considered piracy?

I've been gone for a while, and I'm just waiting for all the laughter in this subforum, but say I want to start a pirating gang. Is there a comprehensive (And more importantly, up to date) guide on doing so?

Dude it is not that hard.

Set up rules to fly by.

Set up a method to support the rules.

Find your self a lo-sec spot,

get friends,

Find targets

Gank them

Or ransom them

Ransomee turns out to be a wanker, remove him from local.

If ransomee pays, make sure to up hold your end of the bargin.

And kill him anyway because he clearly deserves it.

Once you start going back on your word, people won't be willing to cough up the dough since they think/know they're going to die anyway.

You are much, much too late. Most folks who get a 'ransom' offer have either been burnt, or know someone who has. Or has heard a few times that nobody honors them anymore.

There are a select few who still do. The only one I'm relatively certain of anymore is Veto as I've not been paying attention as of late.

Good luck to you sir.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

Or the most folks you speak of have no f'n clue what a pirate is, nor understands that acting like an emo raging ****** will get you removed from local.

If you get a local reptuation for honoring ransoms it's pretty easy to get them ransomed.

HOWEVER the default is for no one to pay a ransom. When you're known as trustworthy though, people will start paying. The problem is to get the trust in the first place when no one will give you a ransom because you have no local rep.

Just start a NBSI pvp corp then find a place to pvp that works for you. EVE online is already piracy game designed with the strong mugging the weak despite all the confused carebears who think they're in a "sandbox."

Seriously, when they reworked Aura they should have kept the part where she says, "welcome to a universe of PIRACY and capitalism." We'd have less QQing if people knew what they were getting into.

No we wouldn't.

The people living in low-sec as outlaws call themselves "Pirates". True piracy is picking on the weak and helpless, and where can you find more weak and helpless people than in high-sec?

Null, but they've got intel channels, a justified fear of neuts and proactive faction police, so highsec is your best bet.

*puts on top hat and monocle*

Good day sir - we have a tiny corp that pvp's badly in low sec. We spend our time parrot petting, rum guzzeling and wenching. We don't have any rules other than to be awesome to other people. We honor all ransoms and avoid most smack talking. We'd gladly fly with you if you are ever in our area (aurohunen up to heidelies etc). Look forward to pewing you or getting pewed by you soon.

I always honour low sec ransoms although if they refuse to pay I just let them go anyway. Not worth the sec hit IMHO

It's simple, you just have to have a second character for highsec, and the pirate one for lowsec. Or if you make enough money on missions/ships/whatever, go get a second account

I've got a hauler alt (like 100K sp total) on the same account that I use to move loot to jita. All my piracy is funded through a combination of stealing everything not nailed down and on fire, salvage, ransoms, loot and the very occasional exploration (I also tried my first faction warfare mission yesterday and the day before).
