So Cipreh (and others as well)

do you think that it's a better idea to have a CSM consisting of people representing various focus groups, than aim to assemble people who try more to act as links between all the players and CCP?

Has EVE grown so big that we have to have our versions of political parties, interest groups?

Would you prioritize WH-specific development over something that affects a bigger portion of subscribers?

Just to somehow keep in mind that we aren't actually the 99%, closer to that magical 1% in a wider sense than just the number of accounts.

Problem with that is that if we have no one that actually live in a wormhole the none of the representatives would have a clue on what kinds of questions where important for w-space. It's like bringing in a mechanic to design your house or an engineer to do your plumbing.

It's also quite silly to believe that the csm wont push for the questions they feel are important to them self hardest, no matter how much people try to convince you they want to be the voice of the people, most if not all people are closest to them self.

I am going to break this down and address it piece by piece.

Q: do you think that it's a better idea to have a CSM consisting of people representing various focus groups, than aim to assemble people who try more to act as links between all the players and CCP?

I feel that a CSM representative needs to be able to reach out and speak with people from all aspects of the game, however, having a representative who is not knowledgable in a certain aspect of the game, could potentially cause problems. So I believe that having representatives that are focused more towards the aspect of the game they're most familiar with, is likely to have the largest benefit for those subsections of the game. I don't think you should have someone so specialized that they're oblivious to the other aspects of the game, but really, I plan to stick with what I know. The CSM is a player advocacy group first and foremost, and in order to discuss certain aspects of the game, in a way that is beneficial to the player base, a certain amount of familiarity is absolutely necessary.

Q: Has EVE grown so big that we have to have our versions of political parties, interest groups?

Yes, and this became necessary due to a large section of nullsec voting along their "bloc" lines, and getting their candidates onto the council due to sheer force of numbers. In a game with the sheer size of Eve, it is inevitable that there will be sections of the game that some players, even long time subscribers, might not have experienced to the fullest extent.

Q:Would you prioritize WH-specific development over something that affects a bigger portion of subscribers?

The CSM has very little effect on game development, one of my largest priorities should I be elected is to bring some of the issues that are common complaints in w-space to the forefront of discussion with CCP. Any change that they make to any part of the game will have wide ranging consquences as a factor of the player driven nature of all aspects of the game. In the same respect, there are common complaints that are more prevalent in w-space because of the tight knit and vocal nature of our community, that really are wider ranging issues that affect far more people then just those in w-space.

Cipreh, my main once fell victim to your Jaguar while WH mining. It taught me to be a better player. What's your take on the current state of PVP in the game, and specifically what are your thoughts on suicide ganking in HS?

I don't always hunt with my Jaguar, but when I do, I apparently gank miners in w-space!Cool

Seriously though, I love the fact that the frigate and cruiser tiericide has opened up a wider range of options as you progress in skillpoints. The clear roles that CCP has designated for each of the hulls has opened up a lot of strategic options favoring what ever play style, you as a player decide to invest in. You want to be a dedicated e-war pilot, there's several frigate and cruiser hulls with varying types of bonuses available for it. Similarly, if you're more of a DPS kind of player there are many different hulls to choose from depending on your tank preference and fighting style. Additionally, the having the ability to field logistics in both frigate and cruiser gangs, has opened up the range of engagements both classes of ship are able to participate in.

As CCP continues with the tiericide initiative, I think we will see improvements across even further varieties of play styles, and every class of ship hull They have increased the power of most of the tech one hulls at this point, and are already working on battlecruisers and battleships.

I firmly believe we will see a drastically improved fleet dynamics coming as they move into the tech two hulls, and beyond. So for where it's at right now, I feel that the majority of PvP is in a good place. The key to many of the perceived issues in PvP is the mechanics surrounding the actual fights themselves, the "conflict drivers." Null players don't want to grind billions of HP in structures, wormhole players don't want to have to spend hours shooting a tower or a POCO, just to "hopefully" get a fight.

One of the largest fights in recent history happened by "accident", situations like that should be the rule, not the exception.

As far as suicide ganking, it sucks to have it happen to you, I've had my pod suicide ganked a few times, but the amount of planning and setup to do something like that successfully and profitably, is pretty fair. There are a lot of ways to avoid having it happen, such as using cheaper ships, or different hulls, fittings, or having a scout check a few jumps ahead, or getting a corp mate to fit a stasis web so you warp faster. This is EVE, the reason why I love this game is that there's an inherent risk in everything you do here.

I'm against removing wormholes - I'm FOR maybe adding some new wormholes, but only such that have good planets/effects mixes and as such would attract new holders. A bit of wasteland is good for any map. If everywhere you go is good, there's less reason to compete. Also, new wormhole systems would mean less likelihood of running into the same people over and over.

You don't have my vote yet, I'll have to see what the other wormhole people's platforms are. My allegiance to Eve, a sometimes fun spaceship game, is greater than my alliance allegiance.

I'm glad to hear that some people are willing to think critically of the various CSM candidates regardless of allegiance or ties. I can only hope that more of our community is willing to look beyond the corp or alliance ticker, and see who's the best option to represent us all.

Thanks Komen.

You can come listen to the various WH candidates chat and discuss their ideas at the Down the Pipe podcast. We just got finished doing a "debate", so come listen to what we have to say and get to know your candidates!
