Inject DUST players into Titans

In days of old, the Marine's original purpose was to protect the ship from being boarded while the Navy guys ran the ship.

To that end, it might be possible to have the Titan injected with DUST players so that it is destroyed from the inside. In this way, you would force the supporting craft to destroy the small ships as well as the big ones.

The insides would either be another DUST team, or, a set of reconfigurable automated defenses (think Orcs Must Die with real players).

My goodness, in order to pull off something like this, we would need an infusion of more DUST players....

If only this game was on PC, I know a large group of players interested in EVE already....

Marines served as a security force, separating the officers from the enlisted sailors. Marines also served as snipers in the navy. they sat in the crow's nest and picked off the "powder boys" running powder charges back and forth from the cannons to the powder room.

All true. However, the idea still stands: DUST fights inside Titans that allow the Titan to be destroyed from the inside...

The whole 'strength' of Dust soldiers is their clone banks. You are effectivly saying an entire factory should be insertable into a titan.
Which is a little bit silly.

I thought the subject of this was "Inject DUST players into Turbines"

I was like, meh.... okay seems legit.

Wait titans? Oh no that doesn't make near as much sense.

We do not need little guys interfering with our ships, not our frigates, not our cruisers, and certainly not our titans and POS setups.

Why should the safety of my ship be delegated to random people whom I have no way of choosing?

Limited to just Titans, I could see that.

They never meant for titans to be so populated, according to comments they made.

This would be the limiting effect, possibly, that price / skill need / construction time was not.

It would certainly be more creative.

Titan ejects dust players, then activates doomsday device... thousands of Dust Infantry instantly obliterated... ps3 tears ensue.

sounds like a ******* blast to me, where do I sign up!?!

Now now, must not spook them before they get on board.

Tell them the inside is like willy wanker's chocolate factory or something... gotta lure em inside before you space em!

The Clone banks would be on the injecting craft. So any deaths would respawn in the destroyer...or the destroyer injects a clone bank at the beginning. Extraction would be deathcloning out.

Yes, limited to Titans.

And I was thinking just that. Titans on the field were supposed to be an "oh sh*t" moment, not "*sigh* ok, bring another one of OURS on the field."

Perhaps a Titan can host a Dust match within the bowels of the vessel for some arbitrary goal and objective?

What if, instead of "inject" it was a ship class or a module? like assault pods, or even that drop ship that keeps popping up in dust videos. just "dock" with target ship and let the mercs do their thing. and why not extend that to being able to contract mercs to board and effectively loot corp hangars or sabotage pos parts or manufacturing lines. it would really move dust populace into the actual eve universe, and not just local chat. and create a niche for their need, and a reason for people to pay isk for their participation. Station fights? yes, please.

basically, gives you X time to board, overcome defense, secure cargo and skadoodle with loot to receive payment, and the drop ship pilot would then actually obtain said loot. which would then give rise for a need for on board personnel/automated defense.

on ship infantry has been begged for for a long time, and this could be a way to achieve it. basically space capture the flag, or spaceship capture and hold, or Space counterstrike!

it would add another layer of pirating as well. altho it should be extended to all BS and up size ships/stations/pos.
could make it a black ops ship role, giving these ships a reason to be flown. or even a side purpose. land spies on a carrier or titan so you can follow where they go. or a boarding party to assassinate that station sitting bounty.

making the interiors would be easy. as most ships use raw cubic measurements, you could just use one cut and paste, or a racial bay for each. i dunno, but maybe i wish dust was just less of a crappy BF3 mod and more of an actual part of eve. i only say this because i care, but Planetside 2 was how i envisioned dust. but at least its not call of duty clone.

I do like the idea of destroying stuff in the bay. Maybe make destruction of the Titan very difficult, but going for the bay would be less so, but would make for a long detour to the heart of the titan.

Maybe even make the predetermined "traps" for DUST players take up module slots. Or be re-arrangeable such that each Titan would be different. Maybe facilitate the need for a "hacker" class in DUST.

Hardly. It would play like every other first-person shooter with no Eve-effect in its wake. Except, you know, you're on a Titan.

Think of the publicity.

I hate the idea of anyone being able to take over a frigate I'm flying, and you want to let them take over a Titan? Are you insane? Do you have any idea how BIG these titans are? The lore says they're big enough for their gravitational fields to destroy planets, and you want a 15 vs 15 death match between Dust Bunnies to decide control of a Titan!?

All ships in EVE have a crew, but they also have a pod pilot, protected in the middle of the ship. If it looks like I'm going to lose control of my ship, I will just open the air locks and vent your marines into space.

Get out. And make sure the door hits you as you leave.

This pretty much sums up what I wanted to say.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!
