Mining Advice

I have 3 toons, all 3 are able to fly macks (and hulks too but too paper thing) and one character able to fly a hulk with t2 links and the mining forman mindlink implant (well week away and i own the implant)

What is my best option at the moment

3 x macks in a belt

or

2 x mack and 1 x orca

Would rather actual figures if someone has them

this same thing is asked almost daily. also the maths for it isn't difficult either.

Couldnt search as i was on my phone on the bus wondering! normally i do get off my arse and check these things out.

with the involvement of the mining mindlink i wasnt considering it basic mechanics any more, stacking of leadership skills, levels of boosts from orca and implants made it an interesting decision for me to make

2 mining ships plus orca are worse then 3 mining ships.

P.S.
by the time you get to 3 mining ships and an orca, switch to Hulk for highsec and Skiff for low/null

what is it with you and advocating using terrible ships for a job done far more efficiently by a superior ship?

also, two ships + orca is better than 3 ships, do the maths. if you did, do it again because you got it wrong.

infact, once again your post contains dreadful advice, because this time it's just wrong rather than bad.

2 miners and orca with boosts is always better than 3 unboosted miners.

and if you have the ability to have the mining foreman implant then it just becomes even more efficient

dont have exact numbers atm im at work but ill look on my bookmarks at home and send you a link to the figures

meh, that's what you get when you ask others to do your research for you. personally, if i was about to drop a mining mindlink into a toon, i'd rather to do the maths myself than ask random internet posters what i should do. but to each their own...

I don't see the need for a hauler. If you are using a Orca 2 hulks are the way too go since you don't have the need for a larger cargo hold. Park the Orca within 2500m of both ship forget using a tractor beam, and use that slot instead for a siege warfare link. Boost your mining output while boosting your shields. Perfect. Mackinaws are more for solo mining not for your own personal mining op. When the Orca fills up run it back to the station, and keep the Hulks in the belt mining. The Hulk excellent yield comes at a cost in the form of less EHP, but paying for itself in a week more than makes up for. No. 1 rule about mining for me is to not mine in system with more than 15 active pilots. As for not getting ganked don't mine AFK. One you're wasting your time. Two I am tempted to gank you myself because you deserve it.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

My two Hulks mine more than 90 m3/sec. An Iteron V has trouble keeping up with that. With the second Orca as a hauler, the booster Orca never needs to dock. The miner's never lose boost. My mining Orca doesn't have room for T-Beams. The extra slot has a T2 Siege Warfare mindlink in it. There's no reason for a T-Beam anyway. Booster Orca's wingspan is more than 50km. The booster Orca also provides protection for the miners, and armor repair if needed. So far it has never been needed.

Gankers? Not a problem. I have a few surprises in the booster Orca's SMB. :)

This is actually true, but since I fly all 4, I can't afford the time to dock the booster, and the other Orca pilot is both a terrible miner, and a terrible Orca pilot.

I have two freighter pilots, but, the last time I checked, freighters can't take on cargo in space. Has that changed?
