I have come to a crossroads. that being what is the best fit for a maelstrom for 0.0 anoms (hubs/non probbed sites)

There have been several suggestions but I don't know what is best for this sort of thing and that would be 800mm or 1400mm
This is my current fit:

[Maelstrom, Boomstick]
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II

'Copasetic' Particle Field Acceleration
Explosive Deflection Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II

X-Large Shield Booster II

Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I
Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I
Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hammerhead II x5

With my skills this tanks 1104 dps from angels
and deals about 862 with hail and 560 with barrage

Any improvements or suggestions?
currently I don't seem to tank enough/kill them fast enough if they get too close too quick.
If I fly with a friend I am able to do these sites because of combined dps and the rats switching targets every so often.

and finally, would a arty fit be better? if so post it please.

Instead of a twin boost amped XL shield, try a twin boost amped deadspace medium or large shield booster.

That way your fit will be cap stable and will still tank like a beast, ready to take on those lovely fat Sanctums.

Edit: I diddnt read and assumed PVP. Just fly a buffer mach and warp in at 100 align out and blap stuff. Or just sit there. Blaps stuff either way.

I'd replace your T2 booster with a Pith A-Type XL booster. That booster is reasonably priced for deadspace gear and will give you significantly more boost for the same cap usage. Also, maybe check EFT to see if you would do better with a few Semiconductor Memory Cell rigs instead of the ones you are using. They increase your total cap and what you really need for anoms is for your cap to last just long enough for you to complete the site.

Another thing to keep in mind is that most of the battleships that spawn in Angels anoms are the type that do EM and Therm damage which may be part of the reason your tank is failing.

A variation on a highsec missioning fit:

[Maelstrom, PvE Mael]
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Power Diagnostic System II

Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
X-Large Shield Booster II
Explosive Deflection Field II
Kinetic Deflection Field II
EM Ward Field II
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800

800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L

Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Large Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I

T1 ammo because it's cheaper and better against angels. No deadspace stuff because it's expensive. Cap booster because you'll need one. PDU instead of a third damage mod because stacking penalties.

I don't believe in shield boost amps, myself. I'd rather resist it than rep it.

Also, if you're considering arty, try 1200s instead of 1400s. Less wasted damage, faster cycle rate.

Economic PVP

Thankyou for that info, I was unaware. When I get back from work today ill try using 3 specific hardeners and see how it goes.

If you go arti, then you can fit MJD, keep the two boost amps and shield booster, you can get rid of the resists. Also upgrade the boost amps and shield booster to t2, or to faction modules that are as good or better than t2.

The fit you posted is decent. Given the dps figures you are reaching, I think the issue is with your skillpoints being just a bit sub par.

Suggestion: use standard ammo, Fusion L. The falloff range is much better than on Hail, which in turn will burn Angel Seraphims and Angel Cherubims much faster at 1-40km. Experiment whether using standard ammo is in practise faster than swapping between hail and barrage. Start as close as you can to the rats, in order to kill down their dps initially.

Suggestion 2: shoot down the highest bounty rats first, before they get to their 40km orbit and take longer to kill. Angel Cherubims deal THERM, Angel Seraphims deal EM, and all angels deal approximately 50% EXP. Take those down as first priority.

My skills arent really sub par as i have almost perfect gunnery and tanking skills, however the BS lvl is only lvl 4. and the copasetic are only there because I would need a 3% implant for t2 >.> 25 mil per module makes me hate myself for a subpar mod.

You seriously have to examine what your doing here.
#1) Your main weapon should not try to hit figates close range (hint t2 light drones)
#2) Max your dps
#3) Fit resists against your rat dps.
