Attention all miners - if you are ganked, its YOUR OWN FAULT.

I've said this in a few threads now, but wanted to give it a headline so that everyone can read this carefully and maybe we'll see the end of the great Goon whinefest. (I'm not holding my breath though)

Here's the skinny -

All miners and missioners have an incredibly powerful defense tool - its called a directional scanner. Every ship has one, this is piloting 101 here, nothing complicated.

The directional scanner tells you who is nearby - if you're mining in highsec, there should not be Brutixes or Thrasher gangs nearby.

While mining, stay aligned, and hit your scanner often. When you see a PvP ship appear on short range scan, simply WARP OUT OF DANGER.

This technique is 100% foolproof - if you are ganked, it is because you were not watching for danger.

Everyone needs to start taking responsibility for their ship, and stop blaming this on the Goons. The Goons can only catch the people who complacently allow them to warp in and scram their ship.

I dont know why the miners dont understand this already. Its very straightforward. At least now, you've all been educated. There is officially no excuse to be ganked in highsec anymore.

You fail to understand why the miner's are complaining. They want to run their bots without worrying about getting ganked.

This works in the most populated highsec hub as well as it does in the most empty system in nullsec.

And it works 100% of the time.

Instead, we have megathreads debating how to tank your mackinaw. *facepalm*

Best tank is to warp away.

In low sec.... Big smile

seriously, mining in low sec with local / scanner open is safer than mining in 0.5 and above these days

I was peacefully missioning in my Abaddon the other day when someone in a Thrasher entered my mission but it didn't upset me. I also didn't use my D-scan.

This is the whole point of why the Goons are doing what they are doing - its not simply for foolish pleasure, its also to motivate players to try new things.

If they actually had a bit of adventurous spirit, they would find that yes, most of low/null is in fact MUCH safer than mining in highsec, all you need is your D-scan.

Stay aligned while mining?!?!?!

Have you ever even been in a belt never mind actually mined in one?????

******.....come back when you might actually know what you are talking about.

I totally agree with this.

I had to Ice Mine the past 3 mornings for my POS, and I actually got angry at how many are out there, not necessarily botting ice, but just flat-out AFK and 'doing the laundry' and actually saying such on Local.

Even when Noob you couldn't PAY me not to be staring at the screen, at least every 30 seconds or so while watching TV.

It truly is unbelievable. They are not playing in my opinion. Go ahead and 'splode them please.

And I realized awhile ago you CANNOT TANK A MACKINAW. Forget about it. There is absolutely nothing you can do if they are going to gank you. Hulks are a different story.

So, I just don't tank the Mackinaw at all except for it's ratting Drones. What's the point ? NOTHING will save that paper bag of a ship no matter what you try......so let go.

Besides, with just the 2 Harvesters, you can fit 2 of the Mining Upgrade II modules you otherwise could not......and that's 10 seconds faster per cycle.

So, forget the Mack tank and BE AWARE.

Moreover, Highsec dscan is so cluttered as it is that even during wartime it isn't a good intelligence tool. For your plan to work, you have to sort through every yahoo in a combat ship worth less than 100 mil

It's goddamn easy to avoid a gank.

One option would be to mine aligned at 75% speed. Between the time that a ganker shows up on grid and the time they lock you, you _should_ be in warp if you're paying attention. With bulkheads and armor rigs on a Hulk, you can mine aligned at 50 m/s and instantly enter warp while only having to align to a different celestial every ~3 minutes.

It really isn't hard. Run the game in windowed mode, watch your overview and pay attention to ships that don't belong in an ice belt. If they get get real close, the ganker has probably scanned your ship and is warping to you at that moment.

I feel no sympathy for the idiots who cannot be bothered to be a little more attentive to their game, only to cry on the forums when they get ganked. It's EVE, folks - nobody needs your permission to kill you.

Agreed...unless you are in the literal dead middle of Amarr, this will ONLY work in Low Sec.

And LOSE the low slots where the MU II Module should be ??? Try Shields next time..........like the Invuln Field II and a Shield recharge Rig. Hulks use SHIELDS SHIELDS SHIELDS. No WONDER people are losing Hulks by the thousands.........Roll
