As I was in the shower today, where most great ideas start, probably even EVE, I thought that, EVE is now a FPS, why not take the next step and make a RTS?

The feature, that would distinguish this game from any other RTS would be a modular Squad/Soldier System:
Let's say, every Soldier or squad has a limited amount of resources (let's call them just "Points"(20), could be transferred ito Power Grid+CPU-like Points) and you can fit anything on it, examples:

Rookie Assault Squad
- 1 point/man(untrained), let's make that a 5-man squad
- 1point/AR, the standard one
- 2 points squad leader
- 2 points squad leader AR
- 6 points for Armor for soldiers

City fight Squad
- 2 points/man, 3-man quad
- 2 points/MP, improved
- 3 points squad leader
- 3 points quad leader AR
- 1 point Door Hammer
- 1 Point C4 for Squad leader

Rocket Squad
- 3 points/man(rocket trained), 2-man squad
- 4 points/RL(improved)
- 1 point binoculars for spotter
- 2 points laser marker for Air support
- 2 points MP for spotter
- 1 point extra Ammo
- 2 points Armor

Vehicles would be fitted like ships in EVE/ Dropships in Dust

The idea is not completely ripe yet, I would be glad about comments and suggestions.

And I wonder if this could be implemented in EVE, but probably not, it would be a standalone...

it could be implemented as a minigame for when/if walking in stations ever goes through.

just imagine it, you just got a big payout from a contract, youve headed to dixie to pick up some swag. you head to the bar and see an old friend. One thing leads to another and you play a few games of whatever this is called.

Okay, while thinking more and more about it, I came up with some more specs:

The Squad System:
The custom Squads could be saved as blueprints.
The Quads would be built before the game and depending on how advanced the Tech you put on them is, they would cost more money to buy in the actual game. Also there could be a limit of how many custom Squads you are allowd to take into the game.

Implementing Skills:
Other RTS supply Leveling for Online Gaming, we should implement skills, which will unlock new Weaponrie and advanced Armor to supply the Squad. For Balancing one could introduce a Cap of +/- so and so many Skillpoints, which will stop at a certain level. This way Rookies won't have to play against full-grown professionals. This would also implement the Player as an Toon, The Commander.

Implementing upgraded facilities as "Secondary" Skills:
To build a Squad with a certain Weapon/Armor/Ammo/whatever, one would have to skill certain Facility Upgrades... The Buildings in Game would always be the same, but with the Skills you can build more advanced Squads in the Facility.

Changes to the Rookie-Safety System:
The Rookie-Security would no longer look at the overall skillpoints, but at the Skill points spent in the Facility-Wing of the Skills.

Implementing into EVE:
As far as I know, DUST 514 only fights on Planets... what now if we put the RTS on Moons? for destroying a POS you'd first have to assault the "Mining Station" on the Moon before you're able to take over the Moon... Via Contract to a Commander.

IF implemented into EVE:
The custom Squads more advanced Commanders built could be sold via Marketplace. To actually use them, the Commander who buys the Blueprint would have to have the Skills to build the required upgraded facilites.

And to the Homeworld-game... first is, that I can't really find anything related to EVE in it and second is, that I was imagining this RTS more as a Ground-Based game...

Guys, lets let CCP finish DUST before we give them new ideas mmmkay? Finish this candybar before opening another one.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
