Just a heads up, the latest Wine release (1.5.23) released Feb 1, fixes the IGB.
Proof?

Captains quarters still crashes, but I am very pleased with this good news.

Didn't fix it for me, although I'm not sure if I have the common issue?

The issue I'm having is that the browser tends to freeze the whole system. This time I got a few "mini-freezes" (a few times when browsing a web page, and every time I closed the browser), but the system didn't freeze completely.

After closing the client, I was able to move the mouse but the XFCE4 interface was dead.

Ctrl+Alt+F1 -> log in -> ps -ef -> 3 instances of the igb remained (among a few other eve related processes)

At least I didn't have to reboot this time (which happens occasionally when the computer freezes completely).

That happened to me as well for a short while, and then it suddenly started working again and I haven't seen that issue return.

If it's the same thing that happened to me, try hitting Alt-Tab, then clicking on the screen again. I've had to do that (about 95% of the time) for quite some time, and I never have figured out why. Seems like some sort of window focus issue.

I have a similar issue. My alt gets "stuck" after alt-tab, preventing me from using the keyboard properly. To fix it just press alt once and it should be ok. There are several way's to see if you alt got stuck:
1) your overview isn't cleared properly when people or you go off grid (people are greyed out but stay there).
2) you can't type and your commands don't do what they are supposed to do.
3) pressing enter get's you into windowed mode.

Yeah, I get that too. This is a little different, though. No keyboard input at all will register immediately after starting the program (tapping Alt doesn't help). I have to alt-tab (not necessarily into anything, just hit the key combination) then click to get focus back on Eve, then it's fine. It's a weird one. It never used to happen, but a month or two ago it started, and it happens almost every time. *shrug*

Was that a recent test? It used to work... sort of. (Slow, choppy, glitchy... but it used to not crash.)

Looks like 1.5.24 removed the necessity of the d3d11.dll disable, at the moment I have just the msvcr90.dll and msvcr100.dll overrides on - native, builtin seems to work for me for both patching and playing.
YMMV, of course

I didn't get a chance to actually put the game through its paces on lunch, but I can confirm that with 1.5.24 the client no longer crashes on startup without the d3d11 library disabled. I can run the game with an empty Libraries tab again.
