Why can we buy/ sell rookie ships?

It's a programming limitations within EVE. Existence on the market enables a few other features that are linked, even though they probably shouldn't be. The biggest one is Auto-Link in chat. There are a few other simple things like being able to buy rookie ships for the other races and value calculations (otherwise it's "Unknown").

They were removed from the market when they were V3ed, but added back in later because of the unexpected problems it caused.

Hey, I like selling my Impairors!!!

Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime.

I have not said a single ******* thing that has a damn thing to do with "day 1" starters.

I'm going to assume you're one of the guys exploiting the free ships. Given you know exactly how many you can get.

Your post is just further example that FREE **** should be locked to the ACCOUNT of the person that got it, so that they can't be traded and sold.

You're a Caldari character. If you wanted to fly an Impairor for a comedy roam, how would you go about doing that (assume you have a Minnie and a Gallente alt on your account and only one account)?

People who put Noobships on the market are simply providing a service.

Edit "Problem": I'm a builder.

So, since magic noobships are such a threat to your current construction empire, what you're going to do is start cornering the market on magic noobships for yourself.

Right?

I reallyt don't care how little or lot you can make, or even if it's a trivial issue.

It's an easily fixable one.

if it's on the market it should have taken player effort to get it there; primarilly through building. I already dislike NPC loot drops, the rookie ship doesn't need to be on the market either.

The idea that it allows you to aquire a bunch of cheap ships to go blow up is even worse then the irrelevant sum of isk arguement.

There's an ungodly number of these things being purchased on the market. That's just silly. Those should be player built ships being traded on the market, not magically generated ones.

Besides, if it's an insignificant amount of ISK, then no one should have a problem if CCP bound each rookie ship to your account when it's made. Right?

Ah I get it now. This is like the shuttles. Unlike the shuttles though I don't think making a BPO for it will help out since a noobship comes with free fittings and is designed as a pickmeup whereas the shuttles were fitless. Nor do I think they should be locked at the same time as I have fond memories of noobship thunderdomes and liked that I could pick and choose what racial ship I was flying. I know that it is more of an emotional/status quo reason but I believe it would be more trouble to close this market chapter than developer time is worth.

I bet we see the price skyrocket in the coming months as people start buying and selling them among alts for billions in order to try and get some of that bounty money. I've seen a lot more trolls hunting for bounties on their heads in help, some of them up into the hundreds of millions.

It just kind of dawned on me that you can sell a magic ship to another player, and people buy them. It was an "oh, hai, look what I can do" kind of a moment.

The rookie ship carries value on the market because it's used to do things.

Why are we given a free ship that carries value on the market?

Why are we not given a ship that can neither be traded nor sold; only trashed.
Even better, why am I given a ship in a station that I have other ships I'm capable of flying; or selling to get the ISK to buy a ship I can fly?

I do understand that people who lose a ship and can't buy another one need something to get back on their feet again.

I would think that it would make a lot more sense to require us to trash the ship if we don't wan it; not be able to transfer it to another player.

My guess is CCP changed the game once again to adjust for Goons and so Goons can now participate legitimately in EVE's economy through trading with noob ships. You can now stop being amazed and start trading noob ships!

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.
