The Future of Highsec - New CSM Candidates?

This is one more thread to add to the multitude of threads about the future of Highsec for the purpose of presenting ideas and solutions for the next CSM session. As the elections for a new CSM start to appear on the horizon now is a good time to discuss what is going on in Highsec today and where it 'should' be going.

To that end, the debate got a lively injection of thought and logic today when James 315, the Founder of the New Order of Highsec movement, declared his intention to run for the next CSM. This declaration brings a voice of sanity to what was becoming, in my view, a very "WoW"-centric discussion by potential CSM candidates on the various blogs.

James 315 stands for making Highsec an enjoyable and interactive region of space for all players. A place where players don't feel that to "play" the game they "have" to go AFK. James 315 will bring a vision of Highsec that is clearly articulated and important for the game at its current state of development.

Now is the time for us, the players of EVE, to start looking at the various CSM candidates and to start making some noise about what we are looking for. The future of the game is impacted by the CSM and, in theory, the CSM are chosen by the players to represent the players.

So, this time around, I'm paying attention. I urge everyone else to pay attention as well and to start asking the tough questions of the players who are stepping up and announcing their intentions to run. The earlier in the debate we bring up questions the more thoughtful and useful the answers will be by the time the CSM actually happens.

Voting for CSM is bad isk/hour, IMO. The benefit to me of any possible changes is unlikely to outweigh the time wasted voting.

Sansha of Sansha's Nation would be better high-sec CSM representative. James just doesn't have the necessary name recognition to get the high sec vote.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Earlier this evening, in the Highsec ice system of Brapelille, James 315 announced his candidacy for CSM 8. Since there is nobody better suited to tell the masses of New Eden than James himself, his announcement speech is transcribed below.

[ 2013.02.03 21:22:11 ] James 315 > My goodness, so many people. Do I need to deliver a speech?
[ 2013.02.03 21:23:33 ] James 315 > BillMurray is in Brapelille! Great to see you
[ 2013.02.03 21:24:12 ] James 315 > You know, it may be fate that we are all gathered in Brapelille, homeland of Agent BillMurray on this Groundhog Day weekend.
[ 2013.02.03 21:25:14 ] James 315 > On Groundhog Day, everyone wants to know about the future. They want to know if there's going to be six months more of winter, or an early spring.
[ 2013.02.03 21:25:56 ] James 315 > That's how it is for all of us, isn't it? We want to know if things will get better, or if things will remain the same...
[ 2013.02.03 21:27:00 ] James 315 > I have gone all across highsec, and I've spoken to many people...
[ 2013.02.03 21:27:32 ] James 315 > ...and they all ask me the very same thing.
[ 2013.02.03 21:27:55 ] James 315 > Will EVE improve, or will things continue to get worse?
[ 2013.02.03 21:28:40 ] James 315 > Things are hard out there for the good people of EVE these days. Nerf after nerf after nerf...
[ 2013.02.03 21:29:05 ] James 315 > People come to EVE to pursue their dreams. Every one of us has his or her own dream, whether it be scamming, or ganking, or awoxing, or bumping...
[ 2013.02.03 21:29:30 ] James 315 > But lately, too many people have seen their dreams slipping away from them. They're afraid EVE will lose what makes this place special.
[ 2013.02.03 21:30:15 ] James 315 > Everyone knows that the way things are going cannot continue. We are on an unsustainable path.
[ 2013.02.03 21:30:50 ] James 315 > I still believe that we can turn things around. The great spirit of EVE has not gone away, it is merely being suppressed.
[ 2013.02.03 21:31:19 ] James 315 > But to bring EVE back to the way things are meant to be, is going to require a lot of hard work.
[ 2013.02.03 21:31:41 ] James 315 > ....And to make that course correction, we need good leadership.
[ 2013.02.03 21:32:40 ] James 315 > Good leadership.... A change in leadership. As I'm sure we all agree, the current administration just isn't getting the job done.
[ 2013.02.03 21:33:20 ] James 315 > Just the other day I was speaking to a woman who's concerned about her future. She's working two jobs just to pay the PLEX
[ 2013.02.03 21:33:43 ] James 315 > EVE, we can do better. I believe in a brighter future.
[ 2013.02.03 21:34:10 ] James 315 > And that is why... today... in historic Brapelille...
[ 2013.02.03 21:34:29 ] James 315 > I would like to make an announcement...
[ 2013.02.03 21:34:44 ] James 315 > An announcement which will affect everyone in EVE...
[ 2013.02.03 21:35:03 ] James 315 > An announcement which I know will be met with much enthusiasm...
[ 2013.02.03 21:35:31 ] James 315 > An announcement of a beginning of a new era in EVE...
[ 2013.02.03 21:36:15 ] James 315 > Today, right here, in this very moment, in this system of Brapelille...
[ 2013.02.03 21:36:44 ] James 315 > In front of all the wonderful Agents of the New Order, and all of the Code-compliant miners in Brapelille X - Ice Field 1...
[ 2013.02.03 21:37:10 ] James 315 > It is my privilege, my honour, and my sacred duty to announce...
[ 2013.02.03 21:37:28 ] James 315 > ...TO ANNOUNCE MY CANDIDACY FOR CSM 8
[ 2013.02.03 21:38:16 ] James 315 > I'M RUNNING FOR CSM!
[ 2013.02.03 21:38:49 ] James 315 > ....AAAAAND I'M NOT RUNNIN' FOR SECOND PLACE!
[ 2013.02.03 21:40:26 ] James 315 > PEOPLE OF BRAPELILLE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE NEW ORDER, CAN I COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT?
{General Assent}
[ 2013.02.03 21:41:27 ] James 315 > A few words, if I may, in conclusion...
[ 2013.02.03 21:42:01 ] James 315 > I would like everyone to look at the star in the middle of Brapelille system...
[ 2013.02.03 21:42:21 ] James 315 > As I have bumped and ganked miners in Brapelille and elsewhere, I have often looked at the system's sun...
[ 2013.02.03 21:42:38 ] James 315 > And as often as I have looked, I have also wondered...
[ 2013.02.03 21:42:51 ] James 315 > Is that sun a rising sun, or a setting sun...
[ 2013.02.03 21:43:10 ] James 315 > ...Now at length I have the happiness to know that it is indeed a rising, not a setting sun.
[ 2013.02.03 21:43:43 ] James 315 > NOW LET'S TAKE BACK EVE!!!!

Oh look an other james cultist who thinks bumping miners is any better than actually mining.

And no, no sane player who doesn't want to destroy high sec would vote for a person like James 315.

I posted this in Jita Park Speakers Corner, but would like to reaffirm my support in this thread:

The fact of the matter is that James 315 has done more for hi-sec content, new account generation, and old account retention than any other hi-sec candidate we have ever seen. People have flocked to his banner from all across New Eden because of his revolutionary and fresh outlook on Hi-Sec. He has earned their admiration and mine by promoting his views in a thought-provoking and eloquent "true to the sandbox" methodology.

I share his vision of hi-sec where awoxers, scammers, ninja looters and gankers are cherished and respected part of the community (even if its those guys you love to hate) and where no-one is ever "perfectly safe" from player interaction.

I personally think that not only is James 315 the CSM representative we deserve, he is the representative we oh so desperately need to move forward as a community. I fully endorse and support James 315 with all of my accounts.

All hail the Supreme Protector Of Hisec and CSM delegate of our hearts James 315!Cool

\o/ Hail the savior of Highsec! A glorious new age for Highsec is upon us!

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

I don't think James 315 representing hi-sec will go over too well with the average hi-sec player.

That said, I was under the impression that CCP doesn't actually comply with CSM wishes on most occasions.

Serious question though. I have played EvE off and on for the past few years and I am rather new to forums compared to some people and was seriously wondering how and when do we get to vote for CSM?

Also where do the candidates generally get together to make their case?

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?
