Hi guys,

I am new to Eve and was looking for some input. I decided to play Minmatar cause i liked the history and culture. However I would like to fly Amar ships cause i have a thing for lasers and i like the looks of the Amar ships.

If there any particular disadvantage wanting to fly another factions ships, such as non-access to specialty ships and such in the future?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

No penalty at all. Enjoy them both!

Understand that it's not just aesthetic differences though. They all have very different characters and different skill sets to train for.

Primarily that’s armour and lasers for Amarr and Projectile turrets and shields for Minis. Both use drones a bit as well.

So study up on that, and try to focus your training at first.

No, you can train and fly anything. There is no 'racial adjustment' in EVE.

Im minmatar originally, now i fly almost exclusively Amarr ships.

One big bonus is you can finish your minmatar battleship hull training later and fly a Bhaalgorn Twisted which requires Amarr and Minmatar battleship training but still uses lasers and armor so your Amarr training is still primarily helpful.

This character of mine can fly ALL T1 frigates in game.

Currently training to make that ALL T1 cruisers too

Already have another character that can fly any race up to T1 Battleship.

So yes, training Amarr ships on a Minny pilot is perfectly possible.

There are no drawbacks for it as EVE doesn't have the typical classes system.
Anybody in EVE can train anything, given that you have enough ISK to buy the skillbooks and time to train them.

As for your choice for minny vs amarr ships, you will only loose out on the starting skills you would have gotten if you started as an Amarr pilot. But do not fear, that set of skills can be trained by you in less then 1 single day.

pretty much what i was going to say thee , only thing i can really add to it is as long as you have the core support skills up like fitting and your armor skills up, it should not take to long to transition into the basic line of frigs/dessies apart from the actual gunnery skills, but if you have the gunnery support up you should still be doing well in that regards also.
