Are you ranting? What you wrote seems to be an awful lot like a rant.

Mr OP.

This game is designed to satisfy the lusts of sadists and masochists. You will see the term 'carebear' used derogatorily in the game and on these forums. That is because people who neither want to hurt other people nor be hurt by other people simply are not welcome in this game.

Also, its a game where players who must occasionally and unexpectedly go AFK are especially welcome so that other players can get opportunities for juicy killmails or delight in the tears of these players when their ships get blown up in missions.

Players whose internet connection is not 100% reliable are also welcome as when they get disconnections they make especially delightful targets or stand to lose their shiny mission ship if PVE-ing in the 'safety' of highsec thus generating tears and distress which other players lap up like ambrosia.

The game is not for the faint of heart nor those who must leave their consoles while playing. Its for super tough 'space jockeys' the hardest of the hard of MMO players, those who love the challenge of life in the harsh and cold reality... while never having to leave the comfort of their basement and experience actual harsh cold realities outside. (For those of us who live a real life harsh cold PVP reality its a bit of a joke to be honest).

In short, get out while you can. Its a losers game.

Secondly, that ratting carrier would count as Plex for 2 accounts. Carriers can't travel through gates, so you need a second account to provide a cyno to move systems, or at the very least act as a scout when jumping to a POS mounted cyno gen.

Well that's not really a strong argument. How many in EvE who ever set foot in low / null have just one account? No scout? No RR / no salvage / no trade / industry / PI / cyno alt? Nah.

The "disrespect" towards casuals is an illusion, as most casuals play...casually and don't crap up the forums with "EVE would get more subs if only you change the game to cater more to me".
Indeed. A big issue with the forums is that it only represents the vocal portion of EvE. Most players don't post and a large portion of the playerbase doesn't even read the forums, so the forums aren't a good representation of the total playerbase.

The "disrespect" is directed towards people who really don't like EVE the way it is and think it would be so much better...it it wasn't EVE.

I'm a mostly PVE player, the difference between me and the people who get "disrespected" is that I accept that I am a PVE'r in a game that features non-consensual pvp and people can and will try to kill me anywhere. Even in high sec I don't expect perfect safety and take precautions. I don't expect the game to conform to me, I conform to the realities of the game. I have prospered because of that.

The people that get "disrespected" think there is some problem with the game and it's community. While smart progress is good and dandy, the game is fine, it is the attitude of some of it's players that is off.

I'm in the same group. I consider myself a carebear with teeth. I am not afraid of a fight (though if I know it's a trap, I will stay away, since losing my ship for no benefit is pointless), and have fought on a few occasions and even done a few roams, PvP just doesn't come up as a priority for me (though I do want to get more into small ship PvP SoonTM).

I can't say people have really hammered on me personally for my playstyle, since I don't make a big deal about it and QQ on the forums because I was stupid enough to bumble into a gatecamp.

Yes, I know that PvP is a major theme in this game. But it isn't the only theme.

No it is not, it (in particular the non-consensual aspect of it) is a core aspect of the game. you don't have top pvp yourself, but you MUST accept that you are vulnerable to it everytime you undock anywhere.

The people who get "disrespected" reject this core aspect of the game and ask that it be changed. This is why they get "disrespected".

As another poster correctly said, the "casuals" and others who play the game however they want and accept the way the game is when they get "interacted" with are fine. It's the whiners and complainers and self centered "change the game to prevent my unhappiness, BECAUSE ITS A GAME AND SHOULD ALWAYS BE FUN" people who get the disrespect.
Unfortunately, part of the issue is with certain PvPers. EvE is a PvP game at its core, but that does not translate into PvP being the entirety of the game. There are plenty of PvPers with the same mindset of thinking their preferred way of playing the game is the only legitimate one. Both sides are equally at fault in the arguments by having the opinion that their's is the only legitimate position and bitching about people who don't play how they want.

The PvEers need to realize that PvP happens, and is a part of the game, and the PvPers need to realize that ganking isn't the only thing to do in EvE, and if it were, EvE would die just as quickly as if things were changed to cater to the "carebears" it's the breadth of gameplay that fosters the community that allows EvE to flourish.

It's a great argument because it was originally comparing how long it took a mining fleet to earn all the Plex it needed verses a solo carrier. The solo carrier couldn't even get to the ratting system without a cyno/scout. Not counting the cyno alt would be like not counting the Orca pilot in the mining fleet because it isn't technically mining.

Oh, and most members of Goonwaffe set foot into nullsec within there first week of the game, but we are one of the few corporations that supports that. But between just Goonwaffe and Dreddit, that's thousands of players who are essentially born in nullsec.
