The Buddy Program - How does it affect those on the 14 day Trial and what do I get if I go Premium?

I started playing Eve a few weeks back after my friends mentioned they played it. I've not been on since early 2000 so it was refreshing to get back into it.

I started the 14day account and thundered along quite happily with some support from my mates. It wasn't until now that we realised the Buddy program might not be eligible to me as I've already started a 14 day trial account.

So my questions are:

1 - Can I get into the Buddy program using my current character that's on the 14 day trial?

2 - If not, is there a way to have my character moved to an account that's on the Buddy Program?

To summarise, I'd be pretty dissapointed if I can't get the benefit of the Buddy program and my friend can't get his bonus Plex etc for me signing up.

I'd like to know if I'm still eligible or if there's a way to get it for going Premium?

Cheers!

No, you can't use your current non-buddy trial to get the buddy acct stuff.

It's about $20 to transfer a character.

Since you're only about a week in, I'd say trade all your stuff to your buddy (assuming he's a RL friend, and will give it back)... make new toon on the buddy acct, get 3 week trial and say "meh" about the week's worth of training you have to re-do.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Two weeks worth of training and lots of missions.

*Sigh*

Many thanks.

Two weeks worth of training and missions isn't really that much in the grand scheme of things. On the other hand, you might be able to get somewhere with a petition, assuming your friend had sent you a Buddy Invite but you created a 14 day trial instead. On the gripping hand, if you can remember any of the details of that old 200X account, you might be able to reactivate it. How long had you played that old account for? Would it be worth recovering it?

As for missions and standings, you'll find that your personal experience in playing the game will give you just as much benefit as a few days worth of SP.

Don't fret too much: you've had fun, you've learned a bit about the mechanics of the game, and by starting a Buddy invite trial you'll effectively get more game time for free :) On subscription, the Buddy Invitee gets the Cerebral Accelerator, so you'll be in even better shape by the time the trial period is over. So subscribe earlier rather than later to get the most out of that benefit.

Update: the Cerebral Accelerator provides +3 to all attributes (effectively speeding up your training time without having to train Cybernetics), and grants 1/5 improvement to DPS, until your character is 35 days old.

It's worth restarting with the Buddy Invite (and subscribing immediately) just to get the Cerebral Accelerator. You'll keep the 21 free days of the Buddy Invite trial period, which will be supplemented by whatever period you subscribe for.

Sound advice and many thanks, I would probably follow your suggestion apart from the one thing that's causing me to sigh which is that I'm a soldier in the British Army and so my actual computer time right now is fairly limited. I had some leave which was the main reason I was able to smash so much Eve in, but if I restart now then I'm away with work from my barracks and so it'd be three weeks of less activity than the two I've just had!

Doh.

The original account from back in the day as far as I recall isn't worth recovering as I was solo then and spent most of my time chugging around in my expanded Badger MkII making money via trading. I've gone in a very polar opposite direction for my gamestyle this time.

:D

Thanks for your help!
