I have done some of the career advisors missions.. Finished out the Industry one which I enjoyed. Although I moved out and went to a new location.. Now I am pretty much lost LOL...

I am just going out and mining and coming back I feel like I have no sense of direction.. I want to mine and the same time I want to be able to go out and fight too. I know I need to build up a bit to get myself there, although I don't know if I should go back and finish out all of the career missions or just keep mining and building up isk.

Also with mining, I am not sure what I should be going after, like what blue prints I should be grabbing and so on.. Just feel like I am lost in the sauce.. Can someone help me out here? lol

What do you want to do in Eve?
PVP?
Industry?
Exploration?
Mission running?

http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/

Do all of the career agents, they teach you essential basics. Skip them and you'll be annoying people by asking questions that the career agents answer. EVE is not a game where you can skip the tutorials and still figure everything out in an evening or two.
Once done, consider the Blood-stained stars epic mission arc. Starts in Arnon, the Sisters of Eve station. That's 40 or so missions that will take you all over space.

As a new player, I started by asking myself...what do I want to fly...and how do I want to make money. Then I use Evemon to point me in the right direction, skillwise, to go about doing it.

For BPO's i normally tell younger players to start with something small like ammo and sell it in places were you know people run missions. The BPO's are not exspensive, and its easy to build. Then move your way up Smile

Take your time with EVE. I know its a bit difficult right now not knowing what you want to do, but trust me this is a feeling most people have, and even older players run into that issue. Just focus on whatever you think is FUN and dont worry so much about ISK or the "Ohh shiny!" ships right now Big smile

Good luck!

Pretty much like Scynner said. I've found it helpful to always have some sort of goal to work toward. Take a few minutes and try to think about the stuff you like to do in other MMO's or games. General combat (PVE)? Crafting? Being the bad guy or the good guy? Healer? Role Player? PvP'er? Just knowing what you like to do and how you like to play games in general will point you in whatever direction you want to go. EvE has a flavor for everybody, and if you're not sure what flavor you like there's nothing stopping you from trying another Big smile.

In my case, I just like to blow stuff up (player or npc doesn't matter so much to me). So I started doing lvl1 missions in a rookie ship and worked up from there and taking the occasional side trip to low-sec to see what kind of trouble I could get into.

Something else to remember: you're never locked into a single profession or role in EvE, so just go wherever your fancy takes you. I've been a mission runner, explorer, manufacturer, miner, PI specialist, trader, hauler, faction warrior, wormhole'er, and probably a few others that I'm forgetting, lol.

Doing all the Career Agent missions will also give you quite a few ships, skills, and ISK, all in all worth a few million ISK in fact.

That said, the game itself is a sandbox, which means there are plenty of tools (ships, etc) but not much direction regarding a goal or what to accomplish or what to do.

You can find ideas of what to do on the Internet, but keep in mind, also, that a good player corp will have goals of its own, AND officers who plan in-game activities for members to participate in. Not much beats a good corp when it comes to making EVE fun.

The trick, of course, is finding such a corp. They're out there, they don't advertise that they're recruiting (too much spam), but if you're diligent and social, you might find one. Until you do, you can also try out one of the helper corps, EVE Uni or others, they're also a chance for you to meet people and learn about the game.

If you want to get into Nullsec corp, have a look at the corps in the big name alliances. Then look at their individual corp descriptions, most of them will have a recruitment channel. Jump through them asking to join and at least one of them will be willing to train up a newb.

I think most people here gave pretty sound advice, but you should also think about joining a corp. After you decide on an ideal path for the game, you should find a like-minded corp, who can help guide you in the direction you want to go.

And perhaps you'll also soon be exposed to the politics of the game, which is personally one of the biggest draws of the game for me. I don't really participate myself, but I do love seeing all the drama that happens between the various factions in the game trying to grind each other to dust.

Thank you all for the sound advice!! I actually was just confused when I started I thought there was a "set path" to follow like most MMORPG's though I love how this one you can do pretty much whatever you want! I just didn't know if that's how it was!

Again, thanks for the advice, my corp is actually helping me get prep'd for some low sec mining events were doing. This game is incredible!!

Safe flying!!!

Nice, Low-sec mining is fun, where do you guys do it?

I agree with everything posted, and just want to add.. take your time, explore the possibilites. EVE is a long term game, some skill sets take a long time to train. Also read the forums, many ideas and a good feel for the game. Might want to read the Crime and Punishment section too.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Also remember if you get bored doing one thing, you can train for other things. It obviously takes time and skills to do that, but it is possible. If you get bored mining you can train up to kill rats or pvp or build things or whatever.

I tend to enjoy swapping around what I'm doing to avoid burnout but it requires extra time and loss of skill training on something so it's a trade-off.
