I have been working on a spreadsheet. It's like a guide for the analytical minds of eve.

If you just want to know what's profitable, it's always a tough market. However contact me in game and we can talk about some things. ^_^

mining planets
ECU -> lauchpad -> 3x basic facrtory -> lauchpad -> customs office
ecu can be x2 and basic factories can be more YMMV

factory planet take all P1 and make what you want from them

Unfortunately a lot of PI is not well documented. There are some guides out there, but I've not seen anything definitive or complete.

Best website I've used for info is
http://www.thonky.com/eve-online-guide/
They have a section for PI as well as many other subjects of EvE.

I kinda wish I could sit down with a Dev and get real answers about "how it all works" math-wise. But for a mostly AFK project I can get a few million ISK per week. Just poke my nose in once a day to reset the extractors. Sure there's some min/maxing to do somewhere, but I feel like I'm poking around in the dark with a stick.

For Example: I set an extractor with several heads to run for 19 hours and pull roughly 144,000 units, then hit the Submit Button. Then recheck that extractor 2 seconds later and now it shows it will actually only get 113,843 units in that time frame. Or maybe it now thinks I set it to get 173,824 units. There are some unaccountable variables going on there. Including whether or not anyone nearby is drawing from the same field.

Trouble is that you can really only use 144,000 units per 24 hours.
Basic Processing Facility has a Cycle Time of 30 min, and takes 3000 units of raw mats.
So 6000 units X 24 hours = 144K is the "magic" number
But if you go much over that number, then you either have to upgrade you links or you waste mats because your extractor is trying to push more than the link will carry.

A Basic Link should be able to handle porting 25,000 units of raw material per hour (250m3 / 0.01m3) but somehow it doesn't like going over 7K or 8K / hour. (not sure about the exact number)

Ideally I would like to be able to draw the 147K in about 10-12 hours and then just let the processors run while giving the collection field a rest period to regenerate raw materials. But I'm not even sure that the fields need that regeneration or rest time. Maybe that information is useful, maybe it's outdated now.

There's just so much undocumented and outdated info out there. But the link above is a good starting point.

Actually PI is documented in great depth compared to other aspects of EVE the real problem is that there is both a lot of obsolete information (given the fundamental changes in PI) and a lot of misinformation out there as well.

But seriously, it's simple enough that you can just setup a planet and play around to make it happen. If you are worried about it being an ISK problem SISI is there to help.

For starting out this is a decent guide on how to setup a planet:

The Thonky guide Dino referred to is fair but for something like that EVE Uni is more comprehensive though I'm not sure they've completed updating their data to the new system yet.
