Hello i just purchased a Mk I badger and i was wondering if there was any ideas of fitting.
Please try to speak in plain language im still catching up on the acronym's in this game.

Simply put im a miner and this will be my hauler until i get a Mammoth

For a really basic hauler, I'd do the following:

Hi
-Tractor Beam (to pick up cans) or Salvager (if there are wrecks on the field) Basically, not a weapon. You're going to want to run if threatened.

Mids
-Afterburner (In case you're in a fleet and need to jet somewhere to get a can)
-Whatever combination of shield extenders and hardeners, most go 2 x extenders and 1 x hardener, but it will depend on your fitting skills.

Lows
-Expanded Cargohold (The Mark 1 has pretty pitiful cargo space)

I wouldn't waste money on rigs. You should be able to move into a Mammoth pretty quickly.

So a 10MN or 1MN after burner?

Actually, fitting gymnastics aside, what are you currently using to mine? Even if you trick the basic Badger out with rigs and T2 Expanders, it's only going to get around 12K carying capacity (with Caldari Industrial V to boot). Without all of that stuff, it's only going to carry like 5K-8K, even the Venture has a 5K carrying capacity.

If you want to dedicate time to get a good hauler, start training the Gallente line, the Iteron V with 2x T2 rigs + 1x T1 rig + max Tech 2 Expanded Cargoholds can get to roughly 40.000m³, without adding Giant Secure Containers in there to cheat a couple of thousand more m³ (those things are a good thing if you can micromanage a bit : they are 3.000m³ each, but hold 3.900m³ ... basically, you can "cheat" 900m³ more for each multipke of 3K in your basic hold).

If you want a good hauler without much skills, Amarr Frigate 3, Amarr Industrial 1 can get you into a Bestower, which has a good base cargo hold and 4 low slots, with those basic skills and Tech 2/Meta 4 Expanded Cargoholds, it can get roughly 13.000m³ (plus the trick with Giant Secure Containers mentionned above).

The Mammoth is a very good hauler, but you need Minmatar Industrial 4 for it ... could take a small week of skilling, depending on your attributes/implants, so skilling for the bare mininum Amarr one, which takes nine hours from scratch with a brand new character, could be a good temporary measure.

I'm afraid that the Caldari Industrials have very small cargo holds ... their strength is being able to sport a "decent" tank ... well, not much of one, but a tank, where the other Industrials are paper-thin ...

As a Caldari i have to say:
Use a Bestower until you can use something more useful.
Till the industrial tiercide the bestower is THE newb hauler, caldari is known for the Charon, but that's nothing to care about when you are searching for a first hauler, you might consider training caldari afterwards instead of training for the iteron, but right now you are probably better off with bestower for quite some time.

With what you are carrying right now tank would not be too much of an issue, just put some shield extenders you have laying around into middle slot
Fit expaned cargohold into low slots. T2 if you can.
If you really need more cargohold, ask a corpmate to fit cargohold optimization rigs (t1, t2 might be nice but not worth the money). You need the prerequisites to fit them not to fly a fitted ship.

The second paragraph concerning the fitting doesnt really change, no matter what industrial you actually fly.

And just to clarify things: The Tech 2 caldari industrial i currently use is still smaller than the Iteron mkV, and not THAT much bigger than a bestower. (30 vs 20 k m³, and more prerequisites than the itty V, unless u already know yu want a charon)

On the other hand there are certainly positive sides to caldari industrials.
For example i have recently bought a MKII bpo and will build you one for a decent price (or for minerals/ore &and a small fee).

So don't throw away your mk I, put some extended cargoholds in it anyway, you can take them later and put them in your next hauler.

And by the way: For my real valuables i use a frig or a heavily tanked assault frig when i bring them to or fetch them from Jita.
