Dont know what planet you are from, but you seem to think you are speaking on behalf of everyone not playing EVE.

Iv played this game for 5 years now, and i learn new stuff EVERY day. 4 years ago i created a coorporation and in that i have:

Professors from universities enjoying the math on how to make the most out of nothing, who hate fighting but enjoying the maufatoring part and industrial part of the game

Students, who just wana go out and have a blast blowing up other people

Army personel who just wana relax while off from work, sharing their stories on TS while mining, missioning or PVPing for the lols

Diplomates who take the work to game, enjoying the huge diplomacy part of EVE which is exstream complex.

Computer Engineers who write complex applications to the game APIs while mining in a belt

Police Officers, who have been chasing the bad guys all day, who really just wana Gank someone somewhere and talk the trash they have listen to all day in local.

I mean we cover the hole spectum from all over the world, everyone enjoying their part of the game, and because this is a SANDBOX game, they can easily see the effect of the choices they make in game eighter for the benifit of for the worse.

The best thing in EVE is nothing comes easy. You should not be able to fly a Golem within 2 months propper, you should learn to team up with other mates and do what a golem does in teams of small ships, and enjoy the social aspect of that.

We have had people getting fed up with the game and started playing something else, which is fair, but that doesnt mean EVE isnt exspanding.

My 2 cents

I hope you find a game youll enjoy, apparently EVE is not it.

You just have to read some of the comments in this thread, and indeed any other thread, to realise its the people who make eve the great game that it is, not the mining, or missioning, or whatever. In every pve aspect of this game you are in one way or another interacting with another person. Whether they are bumping you or helping you haul, or whatever. The people who complain on the forums about it are normally the people who cant grasp this concept, and they struggle to take it on the chin like a man. (Or like a woman if they are anything like the ones i know Shocked

What a damn fine game...what a damn fine mixture of people, including the asshats and others. Without them, eve would just be another boring game.

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly..........

I agree. I am a miner who is doing/training for security missions. Just had a bunch of people from my alliance team together to find a fit for the lvl 2 mission I was doing 636 lp for the mission, so it was a little hard for lvl2. My first lvl 2. We got the fit, and then tried that, when that was still problematic we made a fleet and did the mission. This is a PLAYER's game. Without team work i would have not been able to finish the mission. I am a miner, but i can learn new things. I learned awhile back to expect from EVE only what I put into it. I put in minimal effort and I cannot expect maximum benefit. just my opinion.

TL;DR

If someone wrote a concise "What EvE is really about" page that everyone that wanted to start playing EvE actually had to read, we would get a lot less new players, as it seems that in recent years, EvE has shifted from a space combat game into something people log into just to see how much they can annoy total strangers.

---

I came to EvE for a number of reasons. I wanted to see what CCP had done with an entire universe, I wanted to see what this "emergent" gameplay was all about, and I wanted one game where the term "safe" did not apply, ever.

So far, I've seen a rather static universe, with lots of extremely easy to predict scripted stuff that everyone is other farming or cookie-cutter'ing their way through, tons of people that only play only to scam/gank people just to get a reaction, which to me is the same as someone aimbotting in an FPS, ie not the "cheating" part, but the "ha ha what are you going to do about it" part. I mean, sure, infiltrate and shut down a corp because they are your enemy, but infiltrate a mining group just to pop a bunch of industrials then run? just to provoke rage evemails? I just don't get that mentality, as it does nothing to further the game, and it's only possible because this game has no way of properly tracking players or stopping the rolling of ALT's. Places like eBay openly mark idiots as such, in EvE we have no way of really knowing who we are dealing with, and practically anything that could be done to fix it can be abused by large enough player corps. Read a book called Daemon, it had an interesting concept on how to give "scores" to people - pretty sure corps as large as GoonSwarm or TEST would find a way to abuse that too, when you can just order thousand of players to vote your way.

Emergent gameplay? All I have seen is this cheap tactics which rely on poorly coded mechanics. It's not emergent, it's abusive use of a feature that was coded for a different reason. Bumping is a side effect of the bubble all objects have, probably to stop objects getting clipped into each other, I mean, as if your piddly little Rifter could bump a Titan. POS Bowling anyone? Or try googling "Zombie smartbombing Yulai".

EvE has mining ships that take months to skill into to use properly; they are a gameplay choice. EvE has Marauders that take half a year to fly properly, also a MAJOR gameplay choice. Imagine someone skilling up into a Golem, then spending 2 billion just to get it "mission basic standard" to find out a corp mate is an awoxer, and they can just kill it mid-mission with a 5 mill ship, cause it's "legal" to attack Corpmates.

Fair? Of course it's fair, but at this rate, all the EvE players we will have left is people gate camping gates no one is coming through, and trying to find miners to bump that have just gone to play Star Citizen or another space game.

The only way to have a dynamic universe full of life and activity is to have players that simply do day to day stuff, like mine, run missions, sell loot cheaply to new player, build the odd hull or ammo reserves in out of the way stations, move your parcels around, etc etc, but you all seem to want a universe full of blood thirsty, crazed killers that gank anything they see, and where so many players avoid the markets and courier missions because more often then not they are traps. That's not a sandbox MMO universe, that's Pirates Online.

Good luck getting enough numbers of fresh, bright eyed players to make EvE feel like a proper Sandbox universe and not a FPS shooter in spaceships.

I think a simple HTFU works perfectly here.

Also, the vast majority of EVE players take the hostile nature of EVE and the ship explosions very well without raging or whining on the forums. If you are getting this upset over imaginary internet space pixels like the OP then you need to RUN, not walk to the nearest therapist because you have mental problems.

I can see that almost no one here actually gets the idea I was trying to explain.

Most of you dont "play" EvE. You sit in one spot in a group for hours and just kill whatever accidentally shows up. We have a sandbox MMO and your idea of playing it is basically "spawn camping", which you seem to like "just fine".

Existing mechanics just turn new players into targets of opportunity for the the older players and little else. I'm just pointing out that it is not a good environment to enlarge a player base.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Eve isn't for everyone, if you don't like it feel free to play something else. It's a niche game and as such is never going to be as popular as the mainstream MMOs without some considerable changes, changes which would probably alienate the current players most of which have been subbed for years.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

And yet the game has been around for years, and there is a sizable number of players. The point that you are missing from the responses is that YOU do not have what it takes to be a successful EVE pilot. You have washed out, please stand aside and let the next in line take their shot at it. I was new once, I got through it. I learned the lessons, some painfully. Even rage quit once, but I kept coming back. I am not a perfect player. I do however play, and no not just killing shyte, and if that is all you think this game is about then you truly have missed the point. Fly safe, and have fun in WoW or LOTRO, or Hello Kitty.

Hmm, I must be a rare player than. Most merc groups I know roam region to region for their next war target. Your view on eve is limited to campers which is not most in all reality. Most do stay regionally, but not at one system. Most merc groups roam, most mission groups stay regionally, most Null stay in their boarders, most pirates probably are limited to a constelation due to sec status and easy prey, but most players do not sit in one place.

Edit: Most incursion groups have to roam as incursions move from place to place.

To the OP (who has no doubt stopped reading and/or rage quit) I propose a quick and simple exercise that will greatly improve your future Eve online experience.

1) Look at your wallet isk level and assets roughly amount to.
2) Buy and fit any one single hull that would meet or exceed about 10% of that value
3) Undock said hull from Jita 4-4 and attack the nearest frigate on the top of your over view.
4) After concord blasts you post both kill mails of the frig and your self.

The purpose is to remind you they are interwebs pixels. They have no value, standing, or truth associated beyond what you ascribe them in your own psyche. Once you can make that paradigm shift eve becomes a wonderful playground for expressing things we all wish we could without having real VALUES impinged on.

Slow breath my friend. It gets better after you can laugh at a bil isk lost to drunken stupidity.

Trust us.

Oh and can I haz your stuffz?

I've never said that I don't like EvE or that I'm quitting etc, I also, like many others, have more then one EvE account, I'm also not raging or any of the other things you all seem to think.

Your point 3 is inane. You already know how much DPS you have to do to destroy a particular ship in 0.5 because of how long Concord takes to act, you already know the aggressed ship has almost no way to survive if timed just right out of their undock protection, and the end result of what Concord will do and even the exact amount of sec status loss. Yes, that sounds incredibly fun. Next I'll go drown kittens.

I have an economy going, and rIght now the idea of annoying Sleepers in WH's is my next stage, as It's something I haven't seen yet, so I'm skilling into a Tengu.

I fear you have then missed my point completely. The act of imposing game play on a random stranger is only the means to the end. That end being players and people in direct interaction and conflict. And the resulting hilarity. If its funny to have a post here about a trasher gank team killing a hulk or freighter, now imagine the lolz about using that golum you mentioned to assassinate a rogue venture.

Better yet go into a massive forum rant about how the venture has diluted the honorable mining trade by giving every two day alt access to an ore hold. Start a peoples revolution to senselessly gank every venture you can find. Then sperg here and laugh endlessly about the wisdom of your plan to not 'cheat' by destroying them with cheaper craft but more expensive!

Death to those senseless cowards who only use the least amount of firepower!

Then see what kind of c&p presence you can find in response to your "arguments"

On the bright side I now have a revolution to found and get off the ground. But where to find a golum to volunteer.

You obviously can't read.
I'm pointing out that EvE seems to be taking the wrong direction, and most of you have blinkers on.

It's supposed be be a giant sandbox universe and it instead currently feels like playing on something the size of a monopoly board because everyone knows exactly how to exploit every mechanic down to an artform, and nothing new ever happens. Some sandbox you're creating.

You actually seem to want the entire sandbox to revolve around gatecamps and freighter suicide ganks and can flipping or tricking mission runners to aggress, then just keep looking straight ahead like you already seem to be doing, this post won't fix your mental condition.

I've already explained that EvE can evolve, so whether I like EvE or not is not even an argument, as I can like or dislike certain patches. The problem with a lot of you is that you like your short term kill fix so much you do nothing else, and complain when CCP does something like buff mining ships or add buttons that make can-flipping next to impossible.

CCP gives you a sandbox and you just stand there digging one hole.

I am playing the game, I'm just laughing at a lot of you doing the same thing over, and over, and over. I point it out and you scoff, well, I'm not the insane one.

As someone making best use of and sometimes even pioneering those things you call exploits, I can assure you that eve changes all the time. What is worth pursueing to its fullest extent today probably won't be tomorrow and vice versa. If you think best use of mechanics is something handed down to us by our ancestors in song and story, you clearly havn't been paying attention long enough.
