In-game character portrait coming out pixelated

My character portrait when I created my character was a nice, clean, high resolution image. Yesterday, I changed my character portrait, but now the in-game portrait is a much lower-resolution, and I 1) don't know how to fix it and 2) want my high res image back! I've tried running the portrait creator again, but each image still remains low res when applied.

Any thoughts? It's very irritating. And, the portrait is low res even when viewed from other characters, so it's not just a problem on my end.

It actually seemed to work itself out over a few days. I'm not really sure why/how.
