Yes, ignore the Caldari because he disagreed with you. Ignore the fact that, thus far, he's been 100% correct about how the Minmatar who've responded have felt.

Instead make an adhominem attack that doesn't even make any sense.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I am not as bothered as some of my "small-minded" (your word) brethren are at the insinuation that tribalism has prevented our growth and development. In some ways, you are correct.

But as others have said, the other governments suffer from the same weaknesses: those traditions they hold strongest -- religion, freedom, organization -- are also their greatest strengths. It is a mistake to assume that the Republic is a democracy in the same sense that the Federation is, and as great a mistake to assume that the inhabitants of the Republic wish to see this type of government.

We Vherokior, for example, acknowledge that some among us are more gifted than others at leadership. We bring these people to places of power within our tribes, to speak for us at tribal councils, and these representatives may go on to speak for us within the Republic at large. We do not all clamor for glory and fame or wealth and privilege, nor do we see success as attaining the highest rung on an economic ladder.

This cultural reality means that, as individuals, we do not have the same kind of "voice" that an average citizen of the Federation does. But we trust in our leaders, and in our tribes, to do the best for us. They know well the price of betraying our honour and our trust, and they will pay with their lives, if need be. Our tribes have longer memories than any of your governments or political parties. If they bring with them weakness, they also bring the stories and wisdom that long precede any of your laws and constitutions.

Our ways have proven themselves for millenia. We do not feel "hampered" by them in the way you speak of. And I will let the corruption endemic in the Federation speak for itself.

But thank you for the compliment. I'm sure the Republic is very flattered.

It will be interesting to see the long term effects that the Federation has on Republic culture.

See, this kind of thing is a perfect example of why I so often avoid the Vidlink news channels. Nothing but sensationalism and oversized egos from the "talking heads" they're always trotting out.

Most of us Gallente do not see the Republic's Tribal heritage as a stumbling block to greatness but as a Solid foundation to hold onto. That which makes you unique is worth striving to keep and build upon.

Take the stairs. Take the stairs. For God's sake, take the stairs!!

Very well said there, We are stonger because of our Tribal ways, not inspite of them.
