If i Had 5-10 thousand friends to invite. I probably would.

For better or worse however, I don't have that many friends.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

If I wanted to play a solo game, I would play Civ or Roller Coaster Tycoon or Age of Empires.

I play EVE to work with others to build and achieve things as a group.

My guess is the point of the OP is that PVP against other players is what makes EVE fun. For him maybe. For me, it isn't about PVPing with others, but about building with others.. hundreds of others.

The PVPers get ships blown up. The industrialists mine resources and build ships for the PVPers.

It is a symbiotic, not adversarial relationship.

No. The appeal of the game is a persistent single universe (ok apart from china) and that's why I play, or part of it at least. it's unique.

I'm sure a lot of solo afk miners would love a single player environment.

1: Impossible to begin with.

2: No point to mining when you have nothing to do with the ore, or anyone to sell it to.

3: Whether they realize it or not even solo AFK miners would soon quit without the element of danger present in EvE. The risk gives them what little excitment they derive from that play style, and their ill thought through outrage fuels their determination... whether they care to admit it or not.

What makes EVE special is the ability to travel the wide galaxy, visit unseen places, see unexpected things and people, then break and/or kill them.

For that, we need lots and lots of bodies.

I did mention its a stripped down version of new eden right? It wouldn't have to be full size although im sure Elite Frontier 2 had more systems than eve does.

I'm sure with an awesome story and integrated Duat elements it wouldnt have to play like Mass Effect trilogy.

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

Define stripped down. I personally wouldn't mind seeing a second Eve server, somewhat of a start fresh kind of thing, but stripped down sounds...bare.

I sometimes have to wonder when the harshness of space was replaced with the soft foamy feel of a theme park.

What you want is an entirely different game, in space. If that's not what you want, maybe you should look for a different game anyway, because something like that would never happen with Eve. Sorry.

So four empire regions, connected low sec regions and of course null and wormhole systems.

Would you host an instance on your private server and invite friends to play, build, destroy and create?

Add a single player story line - Why not? Would you play it?

Why not just play X3?

I'd consider playing it if the purpose of it was to test out your own design ideas. I'd definitely play it if I had the control to tweak the stats my way. Would be a nice way to demonstrate more clearly how a few of my design ideas really play out once all the calculation are done. Nobody trusts my math and they're too lazy to read and check it.

Actually some of them quit and go play WoW, but mostly you're right.

The only way I could see this as a draw is if a somewhat large group of people wanted to try eve with a clean sheet of paper, and have control over who is allowed on the server. That is, no vets, unclaimed null, and so on. See what its like to start up on their own, form their own groups that can fight without all the old vets and alliances getting in the way.

Im not sure how many people it would take before this would be a fun exercise. My guess is several hundred to a few thousand.

Hi everyone,

I recognize that this is a hypothetical thread, but I just want to remind everyone that emulating the server and related activities are expressly forbidden by the EULA and terms of use.
