If you think windows is crappy, you've never used OpenVMS or Solaris

Windows/DOS is, was, can only ever be, a games platform.

Why else would it have ever been successful? It's really very quirky (much less since the inclusion of the powershell)

Hope you have a good experience with wine

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Think of Windows like a game console you can install on normal computers. It's a bit expensive for what it does and you can't really use it for anything else, but it runs great games.

wish ccp would get on the ball with this, not everyone uses crappy windows.

With the large number of publicly know and exploitable kernel bugs in Linux, it's nothing more then a gaping security hole. You can't really except CCP to work in support for every inferiors and outdated OS, when EvE is designed to run on windows, which has been the leading operation system 20 years now...

Windows changes as much as Linux does, and Cedega was garbage with hideous support. After months and months of complaints by people when they would brag about having game X working gold! then let it break a week or two later and be unplayable for YEARS without lifting a finger to get it running again OR quit bragging that it worked perfectly in their advertizing, all the while ignoring every user they had, enough people noted that the free Wine worked better that they basically just went away.
Also, OpenGL is faster and has more features than DirectX at this point. Tesselation features that are in the newest DirectX are old news to OpenGL. The video game supremacy is a market share path, not a technological one.

Linux and Windows fan-boying aside, can we all just take a moment and remember what really unites us all?

The fact that neither Linux or Windows requires the use of skinny, gonad-crushing jeans and terrible 80's era glasses to operate.

Unfortunately, now is not the day for the glorious uprising of the *nix proletariat. However, with the way Ubuntu has been aggressively pushing/marketing their desktop environment and Steam adding *nix support, I would expect developments in the next decade to make a new Linux-EVE client a viable market.
