I had it again today. All i can tell you = no fun.

Found a Sansha Vigil - escalated into expedition "True Power Shipyard". First site i came to, was empty. After opening fire on the True Power Factory:

1. Expedition site:

2x elite Frig
4x Frig
1x elite Cruiser
1x Cruiser
1x faction Cruiser (True Sansha Beast)
(dropped True Sansha Cap Recharger, Faction ammo)

When opening fire
Main toon received message:
The True Power Factory was sending a call for help, which was answered by someone nearby. So you better hurry up befor the hell breaks in over you ... (not literally, translated from German language)

Second toon received message:
The True Power Factory is sending an emergency signal.

2. Expedition site:
On warp in agro:
3x Frig
3x Elite Frig
1x Cruiser
1x Elite Cruiser
1x Faction Cruiser (True Sansha Behemoth)
(dropped True Sansha Thermic Plating, Factioon Ammo)

3. Expedition site:

on warp in agro:
4x Frig
3x Elite Frig
4x Cruiser
3x Elite Cruiser

Main & second toon received message:
The overseer answered you in a strange voice, that the equipment has not yet arrived and that th factory has been attacked. Further he means that your delivery will arrive shortly and you shall just wait.

15 mins after fight:
Message in local: Go get em, boys.
SPAWN and immediately agro:
1x something big - hit me very hard. (120 km)
1x Elite BS (70km)
1x Faction BS (50km)
bout 15x frig and elite frig (10km)
bout 15x cruiser, battlecruiser mixed elite and normal (20km)

Had to warp out. T3 was in less than 25 secs almost on hull.
saw a hit from the biggie like 1500 dmg, distance over 100km, laser weapons.

When i returned like 3 mins later - site empty. All sites were in HiSec.

Thanks Ikonia :)

You were lucky to be able to warp out. Those elite frigs are mean, as no doubt those Sansha Elite Cruisers are. (TD's?)

Gonna try Serpentis Vigil again and when it escalates will have back up ready in Passive Tanked Maelstrom, with alot of drones.

Nuke em from orbit....it's the only way to be sure.

Well, the distance saved my ass i assume.

TD is not as harsh to me since i fly 2 toons, one on laser, one on heavy assault missiles. At least in the Sansha space it is not as hard.

The escalation trigger is mentioned in Evelopdia, but no further description about when the fleet warps in.
Missing is the very last message of the overseer telling you to wait.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/True_Power_Shipyards

After you have destroyed the fleet you might get an expedition, that isnt even mentioned in Evelopdia. From what i recall the name is something like "Tracking down the source" or so. Trigger is the "True Sansha xxxx" that comes with the fleet.

What i havent found out:

Does it matter if you wait at the very first site or do you have run down all the sites of the first expedition?
I can tell you, that the fleet looks different at every time i played it this way. But those are so damn rare, especially now after the nerf, that they might have changed it also. So i assume, that when i did it in LoSec the one tie, the fleet was just insane DPS. Made my lose my T3. In fact i had not even a little chance, allthough i was prepared.

So you might end up with 2 expeditions (true power shipyard, tracking down the source)
Further i dont know, if the fleet comes every time, or if you have multiple chances to trigger that second escalation. So far i waited "accidently" in the first site, and the rest of it i waited there where the escalation ends - no matter if in HiSec or LoSec.

I cannot tell you if it is just luck and random, or everytime. But i think you can get it nearly everytime. Just dont leave the site.

I checked my files and can tell you, that i run through

34x Sansha Vigil last year.
10x True Power Shipyards escalation.
8x the fleet came.
3x i received "tracking down the source".
1x i made it successfully until i found the very last site.
2x i failed.

My colleague said his values are about the same, except that he had a further escalation in "tracking down the source" 2 times, of which he succeeded the very first time in 2011, and got this another time in 2012, but falied and had to warp out.

Looks like it is random and somewhat rare.

When i get it the next time, i will post some screenshots. But since the AI patch this fleet is a not to underestimate opponent for solo explorers or duos. I guess a battleship as tank is a quite good idea or some friends.

I can vaguely remember years ago when expeditions were first introduced I once got a Serpentis escalation that pretty much fits the description. IIRC I lost a Brutix then (yes people used to fly those in PvE ;) then came back in a Domi and also failed miserably (had to warp out 2 or 3 times then gave it a rest).

Never got one again, but I've always been lazy and I tend to blitz plexes/combat sites.

Still intend to give this a try when an occasion arises ;).

BTW, very interesting insights Ikonia, enjoying your posts on the subject.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

I havent done the serpentis as of yet.

I dont get the True Power Shipyard often in the Sansha Vigil either. Maybe like ever 3rd or 4th. This one is definitely random.

From there on, you will be on your own. Problem is, that the Vigils arent that common, the Shipyard escalation is somewhat rare either. Causality is a big issue always :)

And I think anyone who's exploring knows how to use Evelopedia and Google (some may choose not to tho).

The reported thing is actually True Power Shipyards having a second escalation "tracking down the source", and the method/hint for when its available. Booster R&D having something similar isn't really being reported, its just a sort of half remembered thing alongside a theory. Those that believe, have a golden goose to chase.

More like a Holy Grail, actually Smile

Seeing as in exploration everything is pretty much mirrored for different pirate factions, I don't see why only Sanshas would have one (unless it was something CCP stopped implementing mid-way for some reason and didn't bother to finish).

And yeah, my memories are not that clear, but I do remember a huge blob including multiple BSes, then again maybe it was just part 2 of the standard escalation grown horrid in my noobish eyes...

W/e, I don't even do vigils that often. But the next few times I do, I'll just stick around in ecalations a bit longer to see if anything happens.

And here it is, the usual yelling.

When i learned exploration from a friend, he told me to be treated like that in forums, when revealing his discoveries. In common this behavior is located in the more kiddish games like AoC and WoW.

In fact, most dont even read the text messages. Or check items dropping that normally have no value and are considered worthless. In those you often can find hints for tasks, missions and quests and where to get them. I find it amusing that many explorers dont even think about these possibilities ...

When i started with exploration there were messages often in the loot, telling the finder where to go to follow this mission. I would recommend to simply open your eyes, read more intense what is send in messages, or look more intense on items that can be found. There is enough hidden treasures in the Eve Universe :)

Thanks Ikonia.

It's really really very kind of you to share the precious information with us. I' ve done many vigils before since years but never know these hidden things. The fleet thing not only sounds awesome but also brings new challenge. Tbh i have never read those signal messages carefully except for the very first time. By every escalation i did only warp in, kill the faction cruiser directly and then warp out. Recently i even skip vigils because of the poor loot. But now, new reason there is to travel back to amarr and have some fun with vigils again. Big smile

Sadly it is becoming more typical behaviour in Eve lately.

I Just try to ignore the usual suspects with their brilliant insight such as:

"Learn to Play!

You are doing it wrong!

I had no problem with that im my T1 fit thrasher!

Adapt!"

...and last but not least...HTFU!

Thanks for your tips and info Ikonia. Looking forward to my next Serpentis Vigil Escalation. Just going to take a few extra precautions this time. Lol

Just for completion, original chat log on main toon in german untranslated.

On second toon:

[ 2013.01.28 09:11:16 ] Nachricht > Schiffscomputer-Nachricht: Die True Power-Fabrik der Sansha sendet einen Notruf aus.

When the fleet spawned both toons had:

[ 2013.01.28 09:57:46 ] Nachricht > Los, holt sie euch, Jungs!

I have just got the true power shipyards 3 times, so i'd make a short report here.

-First 2 times the escalation hit dead ends at the first and the second stage. Both times i got the message:
You notice that the operators of this facility are sending out a call for help, one which is answered instantly by someone claiming to be dispatching a "fleet" of defenders to assist. It is probably a good idea to get out before all hell breaks loose.
-I waited still after killing all the enemies, but nothing special happpened.

-The 3 try went longer which ended at the third site.
-By entering the first site i got the above message as usual. Waited 20min but fleet didnt come.
-At second site nothing happened totally.
-By entering the third site the local channel showed that:
Ships Computer Message: Sansha True Power Factory sends out a distress call.
-But no faction spawn found here. After destroying all hostiles including the true power factory the escalation ended, however, the pop up message told me to wait.
-20 min later the fleet finally warped in with the local message:
Go get them boys!

The fleet i met consisted of 1 faction cruiser, 17 BCs, 3 elite cruisers and many frigates along with some destroyers.
So basically no faction BS for me and nothing hit too hard, but i still thank for the advice to keep a distance in advance which helped really. Sadly no further escalation triggered by killing the faction cruiser. So i guess the fleet varies from time to time?
And perhaps the faction cruiser i met could indeed be the missing faction spawn at this stage?

My feeling is, the second message implies that the fleet will actually warp in in some time. Don't know whether the fleet will come before the third site or not since only the structure at the third stage named sansha true factory which matches the name in the signal.

I will update when i have more experience.Blink
