Rather discouraging but not surprising.

A continuing push to force more PvP.
A continuing desire to push LowSec/NullSec on those who aren't PvPers. Not impossible but not really feasible as it stands.
Continued detachment from any significant appreciation for human irrationality.

None of these will work out well. I don't expect to be well received here. I'm just saying that it appears that the people in charge need to understand that they are dealing with 'damned things'.

Good luck anyway.

While you say so, others are demanding the heads of CSM members for (alledgedly) wanting hi-sec to have only either consensual PvP or suicide ganking.
It can't be both.

Now, being through a good chunk of the minutes I haven't seen either issue so I'll withhold judgement. It just can't both be true at the same time.

Truly it cannot be both. I believe it should be neither. Targeting mere griefers is a noble but ultimately impossible aspiration. Hi-sec is mostly imperfectly ok.

Pushing PvP is one way to get PvE players out of the game .....

Go to lo-sec and get ganked? I think not. Eliminate gate camping might help but the screams from the pvpers would be deafening.

In the end I don't see any resolution. Game mechanics will be griefed. Imagining that people will behave rationally is wishful thinking because any working definition of rational behavior promulgated is just not within the scope of observed human behavior.

I believe the game is PvP focused because the developers are. They are also trying to keep the sandbox free of cat poop to make it as much of a working model of future human space travel as they can.

To do that, those who want strong PvE (and defense against PvP) will have to be catered to as well.

I think you are wrong as I am pretty sure that most PvPers have to rely on some form of PvE or another to make money to fund their PvP, so PvE is a very necessary aspect of the game.

I rather suspect, however, that by PvE you actually mean "safe PvE" which has no place here and would probably be a very bad thing.

Some actual examples might help bringing your point across.

It's also time to realize that MMOs are games where humans play with and against each others, it's their whole point. Perhaps you would enjoy single player games more?

Not really what EVE is. Don't buy a steak expecting it to taste like broccoli.

PS: Thanks for the tip on how to remove PVErs from the game. I've been going nuts trying to figure that out! You've been a big help, I'll get CCP right on it.

From the moment you started playing EVE, you've been a PVPer. Even if all you've ever done in EVE is build something and undercut another person in the market, you've been in competition with someone. EVE has always been a PVP game and always will be.

I find these meeting minutes rather disappointing and failing to address more important game issue. They could have been addressed in the NDA part, I don't know, but that's no good to everyone who isn't working for CCP or is a CSM.

Most players find it unacceptable when the CSM says something along the lines of "Don't worry guys, there are a lot of interesting things on the table. We can't tell you what when or how, but rest assured it's on the table."

No wonder you all seem so confused. Conflating cheap shot bullying (and a fair number of other things) with PvP is not a position to be proud of.

there was no NDA part. What did you see unaddressed? Term's not over.

Also i think Two Step and Seleene should get a commission from Kerbal for this OP.

EDIT: And probably from CCP too, or at least EVE players. -1 baddie

I would say you had to pvp to survive in this game, but its not the only reason to play it really. For me at least.

Agreed. You don't HAVE to ever shoot at someone or compete on the market, etc... but unless you are Chribba, chances are that you're going to have to ~pull the trigger~ in some fashion to make some progress in EVE. Smile

What I found most disappointing....
When asked "what are your ideas and visions for EVE in the future, eg flying with a joystick, putting aside current content, what would you love to see added"
the CSM responded with nothing new, nothing except fix this and statements paraphrased as 'make them pvp and do it now'...

A squandered opportunity to actually have a real impact on the unfolding universe of EVE...

I know, fix the current stuff before adding new, but fixing is an endless process of meeting the desires of the vocal majority.
Being asked to add to CCP's vision for EVE in the long term is something I would have expected the CSM to take very very seriously and come up with some great and amazing new components/content to the EVE universe.
